The Spadgent
How is it Wednesday already? 🤪 well then Zero what’s it going to be? Kit part of PE? Woof!! I guess if Jim supplied the parts he wants em used so. I started constructing the PE IP. it is rather nice but then again soo is the detail on the kit part. Hey ho. Off with it’s head. well face! I’ll get some paint on first before I build more PE. Should look nice when it’s done. I have seen this kit for around £40 but I picked mine up for £27 and at that price is amazing value. The detail is fantastic on the office walls. They are made from a separate cage that gets added to the main air frame as a big pod. These got tidied up and and detail that needed removing for the PE got removed. Even the pedals are pretty special. I now have a bunch of bits already ready for primer. 😇 Oooh it’s chugging along quite nicely. More soon. 🐎 Johnny.
perdu
Lovely as a pint of Wood's Johnny, that instrument panel looks as if you will only need to add 24v(?) battery power to bring it alive. Wow! 1

giemme
I think you made the right choice in using the PE panel, it looks very real. Lots of plastic to prime already! Zero gave you that sort of look, like he was trying to say "Don't screw up with this, J!" Ciao 1

The Spadgent
Hey you lot. Not a great deal of moddeling time this weekend, we actually went out. 🙀 in the world, where people were. 🤗 it was great😍. Before that happened I did some work on the Wild Willy build and while I was painting that I managed to get some shading done here too. Before that I tidied up a few pin marks on the main fuselage. And got the tail sections tidied and glued. I had primed the bits mid week so all I had to do was the darks. i also added some mottle detail to the flat panels of the main fuselage. The rear seat plate. The wall detail. And tother side. The rear boxing/ radio stuff and floor. Seat. (I need to add some silver for chipping too) Aaand the rest. Can’t wait to add some colour now. Thanks for dropping by. Hope you all had a splendid weekend. Happly Modelling chums. Johnny

The Spadgent
Apologies for the lack of updates, We are at a crucial stage at work at the moment and by the time I’m done for the day. I’m done in. 😩 I have got some green on but that’s about it. I’m planning on getting some bench time today. After catching up with BM I’m eager to get thinks kick started. I’ll post up what’s been done. “Say Green” 🥦 The inner walls got painted. The pre shade is showing through nicely. Similarly with the frame work. The wooden parts of the floor got masked. I’ll get some wear on the black matting that goes on the top of that. Pedals. Seat base and frame work. Front. And rear. I was going to chip the seat but only just remembered that while uploading this so I’ll just do some nice weathering instead. 🤫 Fire wall looks nice. And that’s it for green. I did a dry fit and it looks to be fitting well after paint. Time for detail painting and some black now. I’ll post up again later with the fruits of the day. Thanks for popping in. Hope you’re all having a splendid weekend. Johnny

giemme
Agreed, looking very good, John One question about the wood floor: I thought it would extend all the way from behind the seat up to the firewall. Have you got any references for it that shows differently? TIA Ciao

Have you got any references for it that shows differently? TIA Ciao Well .... erm reference you say. 🤔 The painting instructions will have you paint as I have done. There are quite a few kits out there that have been done like that. I have read up on it and it seems that restored pieces sometimes have totally wooden floors but I can’t see past the IP. But for vintage airframes the wooden panels were painted with black paint and sand. I think, for grip. I’m planning on adding the black and chipping it off as wear and tear. As it’ll be dark in there and I’ve painted I’ll leave it as is unless someone pops up and shows otherwise. ( which of course they will ) 🤪 I can then paint the front bit black and not chop that area. 🤩 4 hours ago, CedB said: Nice start Johnny. I hope work settles down soon Thanks Mr B. Me too. The Spadgent
Well as expected lots of other things crept into the day stopping me from working on the Stang as much as I would have liked. 😫 I did get bits painted and I did get some gloss on ready for weathering so it’s not all bad. I got the floor marked the other way up. Hopefully this is right. 🤫 I really couldn’t be bothered to wait for oil paint to dry so I just painted on some wood effects ready to be painted over with black and chipped off. 🖤 That should do the trick. All the little buttons and panels and things got there respective colours. All this is now glossed and drying. I can Flory up next and see what we have. ❤️❤️ More soon. I’ve got “The Flavour” 🤪😇 Johnny
antonio argudo
Hello Johnny, very nice work on that Mustang cockpit, if you want some reference here I can add some reference if you are looking for accuracy, the black non skid paint was used on the wood part where the boots contact, it actually finish at the fuel tank gauges on the floor limit in Interior green, under the seat there is a brown canvas, the radio rack and battery receiver was black as well as the reinforcement beam behind the seat and the air outlets , basically almost all black in that area, it was stated in NAA in order to avoid light reflection in the cockpit and interfere with the pilot, here are some NAA fil screenshots and accurate examples, hope it helps, keep the good mate, cheers Edited May 24, 2021 by antonio argudo 5
