reini
Welcome aboard! Nice to see some interest. Also I think it's good idea to expand the GB a little bit, so we can maybe see some lesser seen choices as models too. So if this would be South Asia GB, it could include the following: Afghanistan Bangladesh Bhutan India Nepal Pakistan Sri Lanka Maldives Myanmar/Burma Now, I'm no expert on the matter and it seems that there is little bit of variance on what countries are 'officially' part of South Asia depending on who you ask - but these are what I found to be part of it atleast by some definition. How would this sound?

How would this sound? Works for me! I've got something in mind for all these countries (except maybe the Maldives) - the ones that spring to mind are: Afghanistan: Mi-24 or Ariana Afghan 727 Bangladesh: F-7 Bhutan: Drukair BAe 146 or Airbus A319 India: Su-30, Sea Harrier Nepal: PZL M28 Pakistan: F-7, Tempest or PIA A310 Sri Lanka: F-7 or Mi-24 Myanmar: Shaanxi Y-8

Colin W
Hi Rene, you can add e to the list as well. South Asia usually extends down to Indonesia so your list could include Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam. Including these would attract the IPMS Asia Air Arms SIG who would probably make up the numbers. It's a bit away from India And Pakistan but more inclusive.

India + Pakistan around that region is called the Indian Subcontinent, But yes, if we include South Asia then it goes till Indonesia. Lots of choices then.

So dont start too soon - or if you do, make sure you'll have something left for the GB @RidgeRunner I knew I could count on you @Wez Sure thing! 1:72 or 1:48? Probably 1/72nd, that is my scale of choice
Wez
Most of the subject choices are for aircraft (understandably), but this type of GB is wide enough in scope to include floaty and clanky things too! It might be worth popping along to those forums to see if there's any interest.

I might have few options for those countries myself 😊 But lets draw the line there so we don't venture too far from the original idea of the GB. zebra
Going to need to include Laos and Cambodia if Thailand and Vietnam are in. Can't help feeling we'll reach New Zealand if it keeps growing at this rate! An AMK 1/48 Kfir arrived in the post this morning, which adds another Sri Lankan option. bootneck
As usual, the original theme gets hijacked and usurped by others so that the scope drifts to the point of lacking any specific focus. OP's should stick to their guns and keep the subject relevant to their theme. This has now drifted so far that it takes in virtually a quarter of the planet. Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Indonesia are not in South Asia. Please remove my entry from this GB. Mike 1

I'm generally ok with a bit of scope widening but this one has now gone crazy. I like these GBs when they are focused on a good theme which generates some specialist interest. I'll likely opt out also. Terry

But... trying to please all - end up pleasing none. India/Pakistan theme might have been bit too narrow - but South Asia should offer some extra options but still narrow enough to feel something special. I should have stopped there. So, lets backtrack a little bit, countries that are in are listed in the first post. No further changes will be made to this GB, it will either rise or fall as it is now.
Terry1954
When I signed up back on the first page, I had assumed it was simply any of the conflicts between India and Pakistan, and involving those two protagonists, which I felt was a good focused scope and one I would enjoy participating in, and more importantly observing others entries along the same theme. I am sure it had not widened when I signed up to the original theme and I can't really see the relevance in widening it beyond that, but not my call. As I said above, I like GB's when they are focused around a specific theme, well defined at the start. When it changes, I get less interested! And most likely why it failed twice. Im still in the build Reini but will keep my focus to the forces of India, Pakistan, and immediate neighbors. They didn't bother when I did the 1980's Asia GB a couple of years ago, and I am a member and had the word spread by the SIG newsletter. Its a sad fact of GB life that if you can't put black crosses, red white and blue roundels, stars and bars or to a lesser extent red stars on a model then your proposal is going nowhere fast. I like the idea of an India/Pakistan GB or one which includes the countries that share a border with them, I agree that you should stick to your guns Reini and to a smaller list and I will add my name to your list, though I don't foresee us getting the required numbers any time soon.
