JWM
Hi, I am coming to GB with a resin kit in 1/72 by SBS company. This is a French light transport machine Farman 190 which I want to convert by installing different engine into Farman 192, the machine used in Abyssinia during war with Italy (unarmed, of course - BTW I could join with it into three current GB: the unarmed one, the Africa GB and the Anything but injection...) The replacement engine is the Salmson 9 cylinder one from Academy Fiesler Fi-153 Storch kit. to be continued but for sure not very intensively - I am involved in two other GB with thee models already... JWM
In build I will follow the infos from this web page: http://www.crezan.net/pag_aby/abyssinia_avi_f192.html From above web page photos: http://www.crezan.net/images/f190/f192/192-6/192-6_coll-jack-meaden.jpg http://www.crezan.net/images/f190/f192/192-6/192-6_0007b.jpg and profile http://www.crezan.net/images/f190/f192/192-6/192-6_eth1_1935_prd.png Regards J-W
JWM
I started work on this, In parallel I am doing conversions of Harvard into NA 50 fighter, Caproni 101 into 133 as well as build of vacu Caproni 111.... Therefore I am so late with start. The engine - Academy Storch. The Farman 192 had this Salmson 9 cylinder engine instead of five cylinders one in 190. and the fuselage halves together: Cockpit and first compartment floors are also on positions... To be continued Regards J-W ,
JWM
Meanwhile I've read, that Farman 192 besides new stronger engine has (when compared to Farman 190 ) additional fuel tanks for 500 L in upper wings and metal propeller. Lucky there is preserved Farman 192 in Le Bourget Museum. https://www.planespotters.net/photo/129467/f-ajjb-farman-farman-192. I have to look through my archive from mine visit at this museum in 2009 if I had own photos of her. Anyway I have chance to model the appearance of those tanks on wings in a proper (?) way... I have found in net also a photo of cockpit with alu or light gray all walls and floor and wooden instrument pannel https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTVJ-p0Hnj9ojaJaFGCM3xeSTDFv2QlhkfbbQ&usqp=CAU This one Abysinian Farman was called the White One (the second which crashed in 1932 was the Green One) so very likely the passanger compartment was in creamy white color. However there are some information on remains of red velvet in inside of burned remains of luxury Ethiopian airplane but it is not sure if it was Beech 17 or this Farman... The description of the Green One is that inside was also in green and very luxury including a mirror on a wall... Regards J-W
JWM
I worked on inside, first the cockpit And the passenger compartment The side windows has 5 mm masks (home made) which was needed to paint the alu frame around The quality of this resin kit so far is really high. To be continued, Regards J-W

JWM
As I mentioned this is the scheme I want to do: http://www.crezan.net/images/f190/f192/192-6/192-6_eth1_1935_prd.png It is based on BW photo http://www.crezan.net/images/f190/f192/192-6/192-6_coll-jack-meaden.jpg The color of darker strips on fuselage is completly unknown. On profile above it is just gray. On this profile roundels are presented on wings and this is against what is known about introduction of roundels in Ethiopia - the were not there until 1945... Always something doubtful must occur... regards J-W
CliffB
I'm watching with particular interest J-W, as I'm planning to use the same kit in the High Wing GB. Yours is looking very nice so far . Cheers

Yours is looking very nice so far . Cheers Cliff, thank you. I was not sure about the Spanish Civil War or Vichy Indochina schemes when I have found the info on Abyssinian 192, so with another engine and took that latest option. Here is very interesting article on use of Farmans in Spain http://www.crezan.net/pag_farman/hist190_gce.html I am still thinking on buying another one to convert into Farman 391. http://www.crezan.net/images/f190/f391/391-3/391-3_amth_1937_prg.png But I wish to know more on the differences between 391 and 190 Meanwhile - I am doing enganced fuel tanks on top of the wing, I am not sure that they looked exactly like that, but I think I can see on some photos similar suggestion, that they were simply extended toward trailing edge to fill the whole space between two spars near fuselage on bottom side no signs to be continued regards J-W

JWM
The extended fuel tanks and some more painting works from top On bottom side I made almost complete construction of struts system and undercarriage And some work with engine To be continued Regards J-W

JWM
I made some decals. The Amharic alphabet inscription "Harrar" - the name of Ethiopian province, the prince of Harrar was title of second son of Haile Sellasie, Makonnen. It is done from some "normal" (latin) characters decals. Please note the Lion of Juda imperator insignia - this is a free hand painting on decal. And general view: What is left are control elements on ailerons, elevators and rudder. Regards J-W
