GWH 1/72 F-15E Strike Eagle

Recommended Posts

Morning all,

Latest off the bench, and the first in my next mini-theme- the 48th FW at Lakenheath- is the stunning GWH Strike Eagle. An absolute joy to put together with little or no fit issues and superb details throughout. The only real negative with this kit are the decals, which are a little thick, however I had already purchased the Two Bobs Maximum Effort Eagles sheet, which I used to finish this model as the 494th Boss Jet with the 'Chief' nose art applied during the squadron's deployment to Syria in 2018. The kit is loaded with weaponry, however none of the bombs are suitable for those fitted during the deployment, so I added a Sniper Pod and GBU-38s from Eduard's Brassin range, as well as pinching an AIM-9X from the GWH F-15C kit and the GBU-31 from a Revell Super Hornet. All that comes together to make an impressive weapon load. Finished as always using Hataka Orange Line with Alclad lacquers used for the metallic areas.

Really nice work Shaun.  Great build, lovely subtly-shaded finish, and a punchy weapon load too - what's not to like!

I agree!

Beautifully finished kit - only just found this thread as I was researching the GWH F-15 kit I've just bought, so it's nice to see such a great finished example.

Cheers! You'll love this kit, it's a beauty 😎
