lasermonkey
Recently finished is this DIY clone of the Boss CS-2 Compression Sustainer guitar pedal. I had an original which I bought in '84/85 and ended up having to part-ex against a bass multi effect pedal for my Mrs. I've had several compressor pedals since then, but always missed the CS-2. Prices have risen in recent years due to it being long-discontinued and I had resigned myself to not having one, and then DFX circuits added it to their lineup. I jumped at the opportunity to have another one and it was built and tested the same day it arrived. For those that were wondering, a compressor is an effect that lowers the dynamic range of what is played through it, meaning the louder bits get quieter and the quieter bits get louder. They can be used for levelling out uneven playing, for instance. They can also make a sustained note last much longer. A lot of guitarists don't like them, but I like the tone that a good compressor can add and the CS-2 has a sweet spot that adds a gorgeous, chimey character to picked notes.
lasermonkey
Also, starlings. All the starlings. We had two or three early fledgers last week, but today our garden is besieged with baby starlings and their poor, overworked parents. Our garden is small even by British standards, but there's currently some 40-50 of the blighters on the ground, on the feeders or various staging posts. They're noisy, manic, little beasties, but I think they're hilarious. 1

It's been on an extended staycation at my brother's for the last 3 years so it's kind of like getting a new guitar too. Duncan B
JosephLalor
Sword 1/48 Meteor NF14 and 70s boxing Airfix Thunderstreak for me, following on the heels of another Airfix Thunderstreak, a Matchbox HS125, a Hasegawa Sabre Dog and an Airfix Chieftain. I've nearly finished the latter along with another one. I've done one in Gunze Sangyo H330 Dark Green as a less intense response to Deep Bronze Green, and the more recent one in Xtracolor X18 NATO Green and Humbrol 21 black under a couple of coats of Revell matt varnish. Also have the new SH 1/32 Whirlwind on backorder from Hannants. Looking forward to building the Meteor, might be another option for the Meteor STGB. Yes, it's a 6120 Vintage Select '59. The most expensive guitar I've bought, but It was worth it. The workmanship is flawless, it's set up perfectly and it's surprisingly versatile. I wouldn't normally buy new, but I think these latest ones are a cut above.

Foxbat
I have an accidental Il-76MD. The first I knew of it was on Monday when I got an email saying it had been despatched. This was quite worrying as I have no memory of ordering it. I can't even claim it was a late night drink fuelled escapade, as I haven't had a drink for 5 weeks now. I also commented on Stix' build in the Less Than A Tenner GB, so I now have two MiG-29s and some decals, so sometime soon I will have broken my duck and built something from Uzbekistan (the other will be Moldovan because they have really nice roundels). Also picked up an early F4F-3 and some VF-41 decals for my Red Rippers collection. Just got to build stuff now. There's always something 🙄 Andy Edited May 21, 2021 by Foxbat 2
Stew Dapple
These: A restock from Sovereign Hobbies, and a copy of Roger Freeman's "The Mighty Eighth", the same edition my Dad got for his birthday in the late 1970's - I got mine for £8 which I'm pretty sure is less than his cost at the time Cheers, Stew
alt-92
Long day filled with pointless and ineffective meeting videocalls-that-should-have-been-emails. So some shopping therapy needed on the way home.
Pete in Lincs
World of books supplied a copy of Fighter Pilot by Paul Richey for a very reasonable price. (They had two others remaining). The RAF in France, 1940. A story that is rarely told, from one who was there. Back in the late 60's this was one of several themed books linked to the film Battle of Britain by the cover artwork. I had this book and maybe four or five others. I wish I knew where they went!
spitfire
I've waited a long time for this beauty, and it arrived today. And as I can see a trio of USN builds in my future I also got this one. So unless someone brings out more WW2 1/32 scale kits that's it for kit buying this year. Cheers Dennis

Des
Plod Pension Day funded a rather expensive library expansion with a couple more still in transit From Books etc. Consolidated-Vultee PB4Y-2 Privateer , The Operational History Of The U S Navy’s World War II Patrol/Bomber Aircraft by Alan C. Carey , published 2005 by Schiffer and now wondering if I buy the Matchbox/Revell kit and some Falcon or Squadron replacement transparencies would I ever get round to building it? From Key Publishing Some of their new and fairly recent Modern and Historic Aircraft Series books ; Lynx – The Final Year In French Service by Henri-Pierre Grolleau , published 2020 ; F-111 – Fort Worth’s Swinger by Bob Archer and Air-To-Air Refuelling Aircraft by Chris Gibson , both published 2021 From Momox via Amazon Mirage En Mission Du Combat Canon Aux Frappes Spécialisées (Mirage On Mission From Combat Cannon To Specialized Strikes) by Alan Crosnier and Philippe Roman , published 2009 by ETAI , yet another hefty heavily colour illustrated throughout French language volume on the Mirage III/5/F1/2000 in AdlA service (many with typical live and training stores loads) to add to the collection which might one day actually lead to tackling some of the pile of various 1/48 Mirage kits in the loft , sold as second-hand at around half-RRP by Momox from Germany but actually as new with a slight pressure dent in the top edge of the hardback covers

Bullbasket
This arrived from ebay yesterday. The price wasn’t bad, with postage, less than the asking price of some. I’m a teensy bit suspicious though. The box seals were broken and there was no turned aluminium gun barrel, although all the reviews said that the kit contained one. And there are some anomalies with the instructions. The bolt strip which holds the FDH to the hull front, suddenly appears in place, but there is no indication as to which part is supposed to be used. Also the PE which is contained in the box is just the bear minimum, ie; grouser vent covers. No brush guards or anything else, yet in the reviews, it shows a full sheet. It smacks of someone cobbling together a kit, but leaving some items out. Methinks a message to the seller is in order. John. 3
