Wow, just catching up Tony, you've done a great job on  the damage and weathering. Need to get some pics up of mine today too.

See how close we are!

OK aircraft is 99.9% done. It will still get some mud and grass stuck to it once I do the base up. Waiting on a nice shiny new static grass applicator to show up so I can do the base up properly. Will build the scrap pile (crushed scoop, bottom panels, etc.) and move into the diorama section once ready to get at it again.

Seconded!

Please leave us a link when you move sections - I'd hate to miss out :)

I will make sure that link when I move to diorama. Unfortunately that will not be for 2 to 4 weeks while I wait for the supplies to make their way from China.

Well that will teach me to stop researching when enough is enough!

Found another picture from an angle I haven't seen before. Now I have to add oxygen tanks and plumbing. I was just going to throw them on the scrap heap but there they are in all their glory. Also need to drop the starboard flap completely and take more material off the spine.

I agree you need to add the pair of tanks etc. but it seems to me that the image above is later than the original concept shot, looks as if the P-51 has been pushed backward there

The flap droop looks induced by the recovery team rather than the actual 'event' and only needs dropping by you if it becomes a 'little private nag' point

The pics you have already shown show a variety of flap and wingtip states, artist's license gives you entire Right Of Judgment calls with this

I wouldn't go there

The picture I based the front on is probably even later than the new one since it has been tarped up. The whole thing was that since I only had a picture of the port side I matched the starboard up with it. Dropping the flap is as simple as breaking the superglue bond and regluing and it will actually add more interest to the pose. The tanks will also add a little as well so are worth the work. I have to wait for supplies anyway so have the time.

Notwithstanding the breaking news on the new pic, this is excellent work.  Very nice indeed.

I was being a tad melodramatic about the new picture really. Since I had already planned to make the tanks it really doesn't matter if they go in the scrap pile or airframe. Was more the shock of finding a different picture totally by accident after spending hours and hours scouring the internet for them.

Do any of you fine gentlemen have a close up picture of what the O2 tanks in the B model look like? The damage picture is pretty clear but I can't find detail picture anyplace. All I found was a D restoration shot and it doesn't even look close to the picture I have.

Wow, that is incredibly convincing.

Like usual the pictures don't do it much justice. I really need a better camera! And some photo skills. And maybe a bigger light box.
