Lifeline
Hi, Requesting permission to join this GB with this kit; Just finished my A-4KU build in the 30 years Gulf War GB. I admit I had a good time with the build, and I think it's a good idea to build another Skyhawk. I remember I still have 1 Hasegawa's Skyhawk in my stash. So here it is. One can tell from the box it's been too long in my stash. And actually I did already started scribing the major parts and glued the cockpit area; So... Is it still eligible for the build? Cheers, Mario

Is it still eligible for the build? Absolutely, you are nowhere near the 25% threshold for joining the GB. Having seen what a great job you have done on your A-4KU in the Gulf War GB I am really looking forward to seeing what you can do with this kit. Welcome to the GB.
Lifeline
On to the build then.... Been a bit busy with family this week but able to fill in the wrong scribed panel lines and sand them down. Work with the cockpit also started, a very plain innacurate cockpit. So, I just add, side leftover side panel decal from my fujimi build, ejection cable, and the pilot. Thinking about making this model in-flight. That's it for now... modelling minion
A great start Mario. With the pilot in place not a great deal is visible in the cockpit at all is it, no point going mad with extra details that won't be seen. An in flight model would be great, Skyhawks just look so good in flight.
jean
Very good start indeed. Even without a pilot in the cockpit, there is not much to see inside a 1/72 A-4... But for some weird reason, it makes us feel better to know that it is there.... No comment. Keep having fun! JR

Lifeline
Hi all, The Skyhawk is progressing.. Since the VMAT-102 was training squadron, I figured blue inert Mk-81 Bombs, will be an accurate option. The kit provide with a crude bomb rack, so I decided to use MER from other kit. I remember the old fact that Hasegawa's 1/72 Skyhawks was actually underscale? This might mean the MER I use is oversize, but since it will be located in the middle station, hopefully it will be slightly covered from sight by the large tanks under the wings. The fuselage half and wing assembly are put together with surprisingly small amount of filler required. Unfortunately I forgot to take any pictures.. But the process was followed by primer and painting.. Cheers, Mario
modelling minion
Coming along very nicely Mario. The replacement MER is a lot better than the kit supplied one. Nice touch painting the bombs as training inert ones.

Lifeline
After 2 weeks of skydiving trips, the build continues.. The paint produce a glossy finish, so the skyhawks directly went to decalling process. The decals were donated by a fellow modeler, since the original one was destroyed when the kit was accidentally drowned few years back. This followed by clear coat the decal as soon as it dried on the surface. Weathering was done by simple washing using mig panel liners and promodeler wash... Meanwhile, I decided to play a bit with the bombs... Hope it works out... Cheers, Mario
modelling minion
That has come on very nicely Mario. The decals have gone on very nicely and settled into the details really well and make for a nice and colourful scheme. The bombs look like you are planning something interesting, looking forward to seeing that.
Lifeline
Final WIP post.... Bombs are finally able to fit rather correctly, On 5/10/2021 at 2:35 PM, modelling minion said: The bombs look like you are planning something interesting, looking forward to seeing that. Well... Sort of.. I saw a picture of skyhawk releasing it's bombs and I want to experiment and try to depict it. Yup... it's finished...Although for those eagle eyes out there will see many imperfections, especially with the scribed panel lines (now that I remember this kit was once my scribing training test bed long time ago). Few more photos will be on the display... Cheers, Mario

modelling minion
Excellent work Mario. That has really turned out very nice indeed. Nice paint work, colourful decals and an interesting and dramatic pose on the display stand. Having the bombs dropping away from the rack is a very nice touch that has worked very well. Thank you for having taken part in the GB and very well done.
