2996 Victor
Looks great, Alistair! Building first and then painting seems to a good option for Arma kits (it would have certainly made my Hurricanes a bit easier!). Could you include which paints you're using as well, please? Looking forward to seeing your next instalment Cheers, Mark
heloman1
That's a good looking kit, must be the new benchmark in Wildcat kits? I'm interested. Colin

Looking forward to seeing your next instalment Cheers, Mark Thanks Mark, We'll see whether building it up was a good idea. There's a lot of little transfers and detail painting that will be tricky. As to paint. I just used Tamiya Neutral grey as the primer here. Easier to clean out on a small job. The main colours should be the ANA alternatives but as i don't have them will be using Colourcoats Interior Green, Extra Dark Sea Grey, Dark Slate Grey and Sky Type S. The bulkhead and undercarriage, not certain about them yet, some sort of Light Aircraft Grey possibly. Hope that helps, Cheers, Alistair

AliGauld
Some Colourcoats Interior Green and Light Aircraft Grey were chucked about this morning. I'm working tonight so I'll attempt some detail painting and the seat belts tomorrow. Thanks for looking, Cheers, Alistair

Craig Thanks Craig but Arma have it connected with one point. Makes it very easy for a cack-handed barbarian like me to cut it off. 14 hours ago, 2996 Victor said: Seconded! AliGauld
Just a wee update for the moment. I did some fairly shoddy detail painting and applied some cockpit transfers. I also applied a bit of a wash to some parts which will need knocking back a bit. The transfers have been hit with softener and once they settled back I'll put some Krystal Klear in the dial faces, fit the belts and give the whole thing a wash. Stew Dapple
Looking good Alistair, but I fear perhaps you better brace yourself to never see that interior again once you close up the fuselage Cheers, Stew 1

It must have been a tight fit for the pilot. I need to figure out if I can pose the canopy open. 😁 Cheers, Alistair

Ordered some AK Real Colour up today with some other stuff but that'll not get here until Monday at the earliest. Will attempt to work round. Started work on the engine just need to fit the photoetch ignition harness and will attempt that tomorrow. Cheers, Alistair
AliGauld
Evenin' All. Ooh Err I've gone all Jack Warner. And that will really confuse some of our younger members. Anyway I've finally got the ignition harness on, not right I'm sure but it'll do. Some Xtreme Metals Steel sprayed over it and I drilled out the exhausts a bit. The cowling glued together given a quick scrape over the seams and then primed. I realised at this point that the under carriage that is visible should probably be black so it was painted thus. The fuselage got some Mr. Surfacer for such seams as I thought needed it. After the steel had dried some bits were picked out in black and some grey applied. The grey is still wet in the photo. That'll probably be it for tonight. Thanks for looking, Cheers, Alistair
2996 Victor
Nice work on the engine, Alistair, looking really good. Cockpit area looks great as well, nice to see it coming together. Dixon of Dock Green, or The Blue Lamp? Cheers, Mark

I've seen The Blue Lamp but that is definitely before my time. Cheers, Alistair
