DaveJL
Hello all, Here is my recently completed 1/48 Tamiya F-14A Tomcat in the markings of VF-1 'Wolfpack'. BuNo 162603 scored the Tomcat's 5th, and last, air to air 'kill' in US Navy service when on the 6th February 1991, pilot Lt Stuart 'Meat' Broce and VF-1’s commanding officer, CDR Ron “Bongo” McElraft, shot down an Iraqi Mil-8 helicopter using an AIM-9 Sidewinder whilst escorting a daylight airstrike over Kuwait. Extras used included Quickboost resin seats, Quickboost TCS pod, Phase Hanger Resin ECM bumps, Steel Beach vinyl tail stiffeners, Master pitot tube and Fightertown decals. The build thread is below. Overall Light Gull Grey is from MRP, with the rest a mixture of MRP and Tamiya. Flory Models panel wash and various Abteilung oils for the weathering. With my VF-32 (Mig-23 kill) and VF-41 (Su-22 kill) Gulf of Sidra jets: Thanks for looking and stay safe Dave

Farmerboy
Great rendition of a great kit, if you build one model of a tomcat then you would be hard pushed to beat Tamiya!

SAT69
You do excellent work. I'm most impressed with the weathering because it's believable; not over done or under done either. It has a very real look to it. As is usual for me, I really like the cockpit.

RMP2
@DaveJL Very nice indeed. The twin sidewinder rails arent often seen, were they part of the boxing or aftermarket?

FIGHTS ON
I'm looking at my stash (well 3) Hasegawa Tomcats and trying to justify getting one of these Tamiya kits. Your builds aren't helping me reach a sensible, economic decision .......
Corsairfoxfouruncle
Excellent build sir ! ... Still some of the best looking markings on Tomcats.

Gary Brantley
I agree with all the previous comments. That's a very classy and great looking Tomcat! I've recently acquired this kit and only hope I can do it justice when its time comes. Congrats on some mighty fine scale modeling Dave!
72modeler
Dave- all three look exceptional, but love the Mil killer the best! As the others have stated, your paintwork and weathering is very subdued and very authentic for an F-14- not a fan of every blinkin' panel and panel line being highlighted and/or faded! You got the burner nozzles correct for engine shutdown, as well. 4.0 job, as the squids like to say! (My favorite to do someday is the famous 'Miss Molly.' but anything in a VF-111 Sundowners scheme is lovely!) Mike
