621Andy
Here's a link to the WIP build: It was a nightmare from start to finish(both times!) but anyway here is the final result; It looks better in the pics than real life🙄 Finally one next to my recently completed Wyvern, which just shows how humungous the Wyvern must've been😲

Secondly, are those really the same scale? It looks so wrong.
621Andy
Thanks! Yes both supposedly 1:48😲 So either someone got the scaling wrong or it really was a huge beast. When I look at the seat sizes then they look fairly similar and everything looks in proportion🤔 MiG-29 dimensions: Length: 17.37 m (57 ft 0 in) Wingspan: 11.4 m (37 ft 5 in) Height: 4.73 m (15 ft 6 in) Which scales to: L- 36.1875 cm, W/S-23.75 cm, H-9.85 cm. Compared to the Wyvern: Length: 42 ft 3 in (12.88 m) Wingspan: 44 ft 0 in (13.41 m) Height: 15 ft 9 in (4.80 m) Scaled to 1:48: L-26.8cm, W/S- 27.94cm, H-10cm
exdraken
looks rather great, colors are fantastic! what were your problems summariesed? the Academy MiG-29 is a very old model, it has been outclassed by the GWH Fulcrum series. so if you build another oe one day, go for one of these!

Yes I realise the GWH kit is much better, but price dictated I go for the cheaper option. However I know better now! Problems? Ha! Fit of parts, lack of moveable control surfaces, poor quality moulding(flash), lack of deep panel detail. Plus problems of my own doing: Bad paint work mainly, and following the wrong paint scheme...plus a complete meltdown(literally...) Read the WIP thread for full details🙄

David2703
Great build and finish! What actual colours did you end up using? I assume a mix of Vallejos?

Yes Vallejo- Dark blue was 71.111 USAF Light blue🙄, Medium blue was 71.333 Russian AF blue and the light blue was 71.317 Soviet Light Blue(?). The dark blue looks OK in the pics but in daylight it doesn't look anything like the original: It doesn't seem to be turquoise enough🤔. stevehnz
A good result on that Andy, in spite of the grief it gave you, well done. 👍 Steve.
