They are really simple builds, so much so, none of the parts are numbered. More to show when I make a start. By the way, the following photos are of the ENTIRE box contents. I have a question for you, who I consider my three wise men. I have bought the Flyhawk 1/700 HMS Naiad, with a view to building her as HMS Hermione, in honour of my mother-law’s brother who died when Hermione was sunk. Can you recommend any references I can use to accomplish this task ? I believe the two ships are very similar, if not identical. Thanks. USS Monitor is finished, told you it wouldn't take long, just have the flag at the stern to add, but as I have to paint the Stars & Stripes, it'll have to wait. I will start on CSS Virginia tomorrow. I have heard that is a great little kit but way to small for me. If you are going to get into building RN destroyers you might want to consider a few reference books and looking in on the IWM site and Wikipedia as Arjan has said I have a small collection and these have some good reference in them but are not fully comprehensive there are better out there with more information you could also try looking on here http://www.shipmodels.info/mws_forum/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=28595 Looking forward to that project and your knocking these builds out of the park you will have to slow down or there will be a plastic shortage. Needs must, my friend. My wife retires in a couple of months, then I would expect there will be a time shortage, let alone a plastic shortage. And anyway, HMS Naiad is a cruiser. Destroyer indeed . As you can see the fit is not so good, but hardly unfixable. Surprising amount of detail on the guns, considering that all you get to see is the muzzle. Faraway Posted April 14, 2021 Author Share Posted April 14, 2021 Well, that's the superstructure fitted, not too bad a fit, now will need a bit of filler and a bit more paint. It's odd, they went to all the trouble of adding detail to the guns, knowing none would be visible, and adding plate and rivet detail to the superstructure. But the hull is as smooth as a babies backside, not a copper plate to be seen. Hey ho. You know, it's making a kit this old, it's getting on for 58 years old that makes you realise how the hobby has advanced. I still remember buying and making Airfix 'plastic bag' kits.
