Here's the little Citroën Traction Avant by Tamiya in 1.48. It's generally presented and promoted as a German military staff car..... 😧

Can you imagine ⁉️

It's the very epitome of French automotive engineering and styling🇲🇫

It's not a scale I'm used to for motor cars but the plan is for it to go with a couple of Lockheed Twin passenger planes I'm working on.

Tamiya kits reputation is fairly gold plated and this one didn't disappoint. Basically fell together.

My box contained a pe and resin addon which was mostly the front grill. Not easy, and the kit part isn't bad. I was in 2 minds but decided to go with the pe parts for the see-through look.

I'm still trying to improve the gloss on the bodywork, but I'm calling it done 😎

Beech Traveller MkI. AZ Models kit in 1:72. Completed OOB as FT461 of the Fleet Air Arm. Unit unknown but probably sometime in 1944, possibly in the Pacific or Indian Ocean fronts. Unusual livery of Sea Blue over Intermediate Blue over White. A mixture of paints used, Xtracrylix White and Intermediate Blue and the Sea Blue was Citadel Leviadon Blue over Kantar Blue.

Built from the Zvezda 1/144 kit; no real issues in the build though compared to the Revell A319 the locators for the engines are a bit fiddly (a small groove on underside of the

wing rather that a more positive slot and tab).

Decals from Richard Warcup; they went on very easily and the carrier film is not obvious.

Halfords Appliance White and Holts HLGrey01 as the main paints, with Tamiya and Gunze for the engines and wing leading edges.  The coroguard is simply one of Richard's decals.

This is my build of the 2012 reboxing of the 2010 release Airfix Canberra PR9. It is not a bad kit though the instructions are at times a bit vague, some of the sprue attachments badly placed, and the numbering of the various aerials and decals is a bit wonky. My biggest problem was caused by my rattle can primer, though that may have been to the hot and very humid weather at the time. This is said to be an aircraft of 39 Squadron RAF based at Marham in July 2006 at about the time the Canberra was retired - some of the aerials and stencils are open to question as there seems to have been quite a variation between planes according to photos etc.

It has been a struggle at times but I quite enjoyed it.

This is my Ilyushin Il-62M in 1/144 scale from Zvezda. The transfers were from the kit, and represent an aircraft from the Russian Emergencies Ministry. The transfers were excellent. Paint was predominantly Tamiya, Light Grey primer for the light grey(!), and White Primer followed by their Gloss white. Leading edges were Mr Metal Colour Stainless brush painted on then buffed. All in all a lovely kit, and in the right hands would produce a show stopper.

I'm DUN!!!!! 😃 I've finally finished my first ever Group Build! There should be a special merit award for the achievement.

Anyway, here she is, Race 80 built from the Airfix Civilian Schemes boxing. Overall a good kit. Not the best out there, for both detail and buildabilty, but a fine one. The decals were really good, and I think are the best thing about the boxing, but for the prop decals. They are just slightly off in shape and the ones for the back of the blades are not reversed and so do not follow the shape of the tips. The prop is firmly attached. It does spin, but not freely, but it was a choice between firm and snug and loose-goosey. I think I chose wisely.

I did have some problems, mostly with the paint but that was all self-induced, and I take full measure of that. Paints used were Tamiya for the interior and AK Extreme Metals for the exterior, other than Tamiya blue for the hub and canopy frame. Mission Models tire gray was used for the tires.

So, pics!

I'll probably do this plane again at some point, with an Academy kit, but for now, there she us!

Model on!

This is my entry for the GB. It is the Mikro-Mir model of the Canberra T17 of 360 Sqn based at RAF Wyton in Sep 1985. The markings came from Modeldecal.

Here's my IRC Otter and the WiP is here...

This was a fun GB.  I was happy to build this kit.  Not the best kit--an old mould, tough plastic, rudimentary details.  The decals were large and very thin which isn't always the best combination.  Gently and slowly is the name of the game.  Still, I hammered the kit into the right kind of shape.  75cm Rule applies.  Many thanks to the Mods for their hard work!  There really are some excellent builds in this GB.

Douglas Dakota III with Willys Jeep

1/72 Airfix kit OOB build, build thread here.

Modern Airfix kit, went together great - window decals I could have done better (maybe attached to the interior or something).

Had a few issues with the primer going lumpy (maybe due to the high ambient temperature when spraying), overall though a good build.
