Hi all,

I am trying to get the PE on to my seat for my Fishbed. I am trying to figure out what Part No. PE15 is for and how it is installed :(. Guidance please. Thanks in advance.

What scale/kit/aftermarket are you looking at? Just "PE15" doesn't ring a bell, please elaborate.

1/72. It is the PE set that comes with the PF kit (70143-LEPT1). It is a metallic rectangle that has a small square section marked on it. The instructions indicate that it goes on the back on the seat, on top of the rear cushion but that doesn't right right according to images I have found.

I take it to be the brownish rectangle that the chest straps are in front of. On some of the pictures I've seen looking for this one, the rectangle is quilted:

But the quilted part may be upholstered on the top picture.

Thanks Jonathan. I guess some trimming to get the chamfered top corners and I can use it :)

Martin,

Go to the ejection site website and click on the seat gallery to see closeup views of the SK-1 seat from several different angles. See if that helps. If you don't already have this website bookmarked, it is an excellent site for modelers. I use it and the Martin-Baker website all the time for weenie cooker bang seat references!

True, the drawing is clear but my hesitation was because it appeared that Eduard wanted a flat metal plate attached to the front of the seat. It didn’t seem logical. I now realise it represents a cloth/webbing piece. I have installed it but with the two upper corners removed ;).

Thanks for your help!

You wanna share your result/ solution?

Curious how the seat and PE look like in 72nd!

Yep. I’ll get a shot on the thread tomorrow :). It looks okay to my eyes ;) . You have to excuse my poor detailing, though!

Here she is @exdraken. I now think I'll finish her canopy open as it looks quite good to my eyes :). I painted the part tan to match the soft strapping, as in the image above. Some images show grey some show tan. If I go for the open option I'll need to change the small actuator on top of the seat to the more vertical position. Right now I need to decide if I want to mask that fiddly interior of the canopy ;)

Looks great, thanks!

Interesting scheme!

Thanks mate. Now I've gone for an open canopy model I need to seal the fuselage/cockpit tub join a bit better (with PPP) and add the locating tab on the front of the canopy ;).  There is a build log of this machine in WIP
