SimonL
Casting around for my next project, I was thinking of picking up the IBG 1:72 Crusader Mk III. Rather taken with one of the schemes in the box - a tank belonging to the Polish Forces in UK in 1942 (I assume 1 Polish Armoured Division). The colour call out is for Olive Drab - but that doesn’t seem right to me. Would 1942 be too early for SCC15? I would be grateful for any advice. Graham Boak
Yes it would. The likeliest colour is dark brown, but it may have been Green G3. See British Vehicle Camouflage, 1939-45 (mafva.org)
JackG
Yes too early, S.C.C.15 was officially introduced April 1944. https://www.mafva.org/british-vehicle-camouflage-1939-45/?v=79cba1185463 1942 straddles the period when the base colour transitioned from Khaki Green G3 to S.C.C.2 brown due to shortages of green pigment. So depending on when the Crusader left the factory, you have a choice in paint. regards, Jack
Andrew Jones
The few colour photos of Crusader and Covenantor tanks in the UK in this period would appear to show these tanks in SCC2 , so unless anyone can prove differently this would be my first choice for painting a model.

Steben
Scc2 is a colour much chosen by modellers and rightfully so, unlike restorations. Last years the real scale world made a quick catch up though.
