Kodiopa
Hi. This is an Academy-model kit of old car, which was released in the 70s in South Korea. This car was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, and the first mass-produced car made by Hyundai. It was a car with memories of my childhood, and it was released as a model at the Academy, so it was very fun while making it. This car was not exported much at the time, so it would be unfamiliar to you. I hope you enjoy it. 😅 Full build video is here
galaxyg
Very nice. Don't often see kits of Korean cars. I know Academy make a few, but it's really a few.
keefr22
Lovely model of a car I'd never heard of until seeing two excellent builds by South Korean modellers on youtube - yours being one! I really like your paintjob and the colour really suits the car - can I ask what paint it is? Top job! Keith
Vince1159
Lovely job and the first one i've seen as a kit, what is the pickup in the background...
Spiny
very nice build of this kit, it looks very nice. For some reason the Pony is a kit I could find myself buying if I'm not careful. The Pony is a car which I seem to have a bit of 'false memory syndrome'. Our next door neighbours had a gold Y-reg one (1982-1983) which I'm sure I remember as being the double-headlight version like this, but Mr. Wikipedia (who is never wrong 😆) tells me that we didn't get the Pony until the MkII was launched.

Strange isn't it - as I say I'd never actually heard of the car, and it's totally outside my usual interests, but after seeing Kodiopa's (and a couple of others) fine builds I rather fancy one too! I mixed yellow and blue with the number 30 light blue paint.

busnproplinerfan
That's a classic. There were Ponys here in Canada during the '80s, not sure if before that, for sure a version of it but I barely remember them before they rusted away. I'm sure they were good cars. Very clean build on this one.

I think it was in the process of trial and error. But now that I see it, I think it's a good car for design, not to mention the performance. Thank you.

His was the other Pony video I mentioned - as you say a different level, I'm really happy if I can get results anywhere near to your builds! Thank you for the info on the colour you used. ElectricLightAndy
That's a beautiful job of a kit I was unaware existed, I love the little bits of carpet on the parcel shelf, so many little details. For the people unaware of the real cars provenance, former BL boss George Turnbull left BL to start Hyundai's first car factory and car, many of you will be surprised that this is actually a heavily revised Morris Marina... look at it closely 😉 it was even designed and tested by ex British Leyland designers and engineers, there is a documentary on it somewhere where they say it is basically what they wanted the Marina to be back in 72! So yes, in a weird way, the humble Morris Marina is responsible for the entire Korean car industry 🤣 Once again, beautiful job! malpaso
That's a very attractive build. Being in the UK I guess I would only remember the second version, but this looks like the earlier version was a nice looking car of the day.

Unfortunately they did not fair well at all in the Canadian climate and rotted out completely within 5 years. By 1995 they were rare and by now almost non existent.

Wasn't sure if they were around before that, was to young to notice. I know the rusted away along with most import cars. We so did everything else.
Kitkent
A beautiful model in the 'right' colour. We did see these cars in England, but as other people have said it was in the 80's? It does look a bit familiar. Chris.

Maybe you saw this car then.
Michael Church
Completely by coincidence, Car & Driver has an article today about an EV restomod of this car and it's a stunner, in a basic economy car sort of way.
