1/72 Fujimi Spitfire PR XIX Indian Air Force

Recommended Posts

Picture Update: Finally posting better pictures to this build.

Calling this done. This is a Fujimi 1/72 Spitfire PR XIX made out of parts and bits and bobs of some discarded FR XIV sprues. I made this based on the color profile of HS701as seen in the book Spitfires in the Sun. This particular aircraft was from the 101 PR Unit of the Indian Air Force based out of Palam AF Base, 1950. Tamiya paints and wash. The only weathering is some light chipping on the leading and trailing edge of the wings. I opened the tail wheel doors and the pilot is from an old Matchbox kit. The canopy is part Airfix XIX and part vacuform. (Note - added a couple of better pics this morning)

This looks very nice indeed.  I like the scheme with the white wingtips.  Great finish too.

Cracking work.

A spicey Spit, lovely build and finish !

Thank you all. What was supposed to be a quick spares box build gave me a nightmare or two building - all self inflicted. Glad I can call it done!

This is indeed a perfect PR XIX! The Fujimi kit needs a lot of rework on the wing undersurface in order to create an accurate PR XIX. Your really did a perfect job with the rescirbing and modification of the panel lines. 👍

Great choice of subject and paint scheme!

Having built several Fujimi Griffon Spitfires myself, i know they don't exactly fall together, and back when the came out they were ridiculously overpriced (i Blame MRC for that).

I really like your model and what you've done with the kit!

Did you get the scheme from a decal sheet or piece together the decals for the model from your spares?

Thx David,

Wish they had more detail in the office and the tail wheel doors wouldn't have to be cut out from the fuselage to be built in the open position, but it still builds into a nice xiv, xix and even an xviii
