Bozothenutter
Reading Vol1 of the classic Fw 190 series. Noticed something weird. If this is the 603 fitted to V13 What is this then? And why change the mounts? Only relevant option could be the 213, so googled it. Thing that gives it away are the mounting points. 603 are offset, 213 are inline.
gingerbob
Good observation, but (as a non-Fw obsessive) I don't get what your (other) point is. Is the second photograph wrongly captioned?

Sorry yeah I should have been clearer (did include the caption) Caption states the second pic is the 603 that went into V15.....and I was wondering why would they change the engine mount when using the same engine? Though a prototype so anything is possible, it just seemed strange. Then I noticed the 'bolt' alignment. Light bulb flashed and I looked for a Jumo pic. Found two other books with the same error. gingerbob
Thanks for clarifying. I will not pull out a Dora 9. I will not pull out a Dora 9. I will not...
Toryu
AFAIK, the Daimler-Benz had the supercharger (and air intake) on the port side, the Jumo on starboard. This is the easiest way to recognise the engine used.
Graham Boak
Hence the visible hole for an air intake in the lower picture which is still claimed to be a DB603 but clearly isn't. Well spotted.
