CedB
Thanks Cookie YOU might love it, but then you're not masking it! The 'B' got a rough white: …and when that was dry the dark green overpaint: Back to masking the nacelles: That's all I can stand for the moment. Later.

I have some of that: However, I don't think you're supposed to be able to do this: In the bin then and put out some more from the big bottle. Done now: Just need to mask the front and rear fuselage anti-glares. More masking. Ugh.

Sensible of Mars 👽 Thanks Martian - good idea Finally some OD: Spraying Humbrol. No, I didn't like it. Even with their thinner the AB clogged. Ho hum. On 'my' fuselage I masked using tape, then realised I'll have to re-mask before the NMF so on the other I just free-handed it: Getting there.

The Spadgent
Bummer about the “B” but a wonderful save on the “B” Mr B. 😀 *Sorry. 🥹 looking good there. Humbrol paint has always been terrible every time I’ve used it. I do like Mr Hobby paints but I have such a store of Tamiya that’s my go to. I hope the masking comes out well. 👏👏👏🤩 Johnny.
Biggles87
Getting there slowly but surely. I haven’t used Humbrol enamel for some time now but their acrylics work well for me. Some of my Tamiya acrylics ( in the large pots ) came to France with me 16 years ago and I find them difficult to brush paint, but they still spray OK well thinned with Tamiya thinner. Thinking of venturing into MRP lacquer based soon, particularly for the Russian colours, any advice anyone? Stay safe. John

Thanks Jont I've a stop of Humbrol but changed to Vallejo when I got the airbrush. Some Revell too. Oh, and LifeColor, Tamiya, Mr Hobby etc etc. Perhaps I should concentrate… On 24/05/2022 at 17:06, Biggles87 said: Getting there slowly but surely. CedB
OK, I've been distracted this week. Tuesday saw us on a river cruise on (in?) the Avon gorge. Started fine then we got caught behind the Pride of Bristol - an old training ship that volunteers have now, sadly, had to give up on so it's moving 'up north'. We had to wait behind her for two bridge swings (interesting) but the three hour trip was really in the harbour and locks for twenty, down the gorge for twenty, then through pretty boring but pretty countryside down to Avonmouth. Then we came back. Nice trip though. Wednesday I had a chest X-Ray to make sure my persistent cough (now gone) wasn't due to something nasty. It wasn't. Thursday I had my eyes tested for the first time in four years. I'd listened to a mate who said he'd bought some cheap reading glasses online. I bought some but no good. My expert, friendly and interesting Optician told me that my slight astigmatism meant they wouldn't help so I've splashed out on a proper pair of varifocal specs for screen and reading. Fingers crossed. Top Gun Maverick with Mrs B - great film IMHO. Friday I met the new Chief Inspector to talk about what we're going to do now I've taken the chair of the Independent Advisory group. Interesting stuff. Yesterday was my birthday and the family arrived. We had a trip to 'The Newt in Somerset' where we're members. Great place. Relaxing and 'quality'. Bought some cheese to add to my girth. Also had a pressie from the girls of a box of Patisserie Valerie cakes. I love their mille-feuille and it had been one of my treats until they closed the shop in Bath. Online solved that problem - delivered frozen with dry ice and now in the freezer, I'll have to plan my treats for the next day. Hmmm. Also received this: I used most of my bending tools to get to this stage: …but bending part #11 is a challenge: So of course my answer is to order more tools. Some mandrels. That'll do it. Probably. 12
CedB
What's that you say? B-17s? Again the next stage is tricky: Step 63 is easy enough but then the inner and outer engines are different, again, and I'm worried I'll mix them up. As usual, practice on my kit. Just a minute. Two kits with four engines each. Why have three of these got holes in and five not? Must be a mixed pressing in one kit? Who knows. I decided that the best way to align the exhaust collector was to glue the engine to the mount and then wiggle the collector: Fiddly but done now: Next stage to glue these: The bits selected for my kit have ejector pins and flash. Great. I need a break now before I get out the micro-files and chisels. If I can remember where I put them… 19
81-er
Happy belated birthday, Ced! The Falcon looks fiddly, but you're dong well. and the B-17's are progressing nicely. Odd about the mixed up engines. James
