Wow, what a reception!

Thanks Strickers (no they're not good for cleaning gutters), Heather, Ali, Giorgio, Ian, Mark (with his big pink gamecock - oh come on, that deserves my comeback FNAAR!), Terry Steve, Roger, Hendie, John, Dennis, Bill, Phil, Stew, Adrian, John, Bill (get a drone, you know you need one), Steve, Andy, Simon, Rob, Craig and /P.

Mark 'BBT' is Big Bang Theory. Science and that.

I looked at the paint scheme just now.

Tricky.

But doable.

Now I just need to do it (snurf) :)

YAYYYYY!

Party......... 🎉🎊🍾👍🍺

That read like it was "Life in the Fast Lane" but then I realised it covered about half a year 😎

Although somewhere in there, I'm sure you said you were training to be a Guide.....

Cool 😇

I've also done a first aid course, required for the Scout shooting thing.

Not sure that I entirely agree with shooting them.

Bath's gotten a lot tougher than I remember...

Sincerely and absolutely brilliant to have you back here Ced - mojo be damned, it's just enough that you're around.

Yep, training to be a guide at 'The Old Theatre Royal' that is also our Lodge. Done my training and, once this bloomin' cough goes, I look forward to showing people around. 1750 it was built - that's just before 8 o'clock.

It's not shooting the Scouts, it's the Scouts… oh forget it :D

Thanks Tony, nice to be back!

welcome back, look forward to seeing any progress you feel like doing.

Thanks Rob :)

Sadly the things I feel like doing are not the things that need doing but hey, that's life.

So can I now relax my acting unpaid standby Ced role? I found it quite hard at times. (Snort!)

You can Pete, you can, and thanks for holding my end up in my absence (fnaar!) :)

So, what's this all about:

52070573220_33a09927f2.jpg

Oh yeah, I remember where the mojo went.

Lots of weird paint bits where parts were robbed from other aircraft.

Great.

I'd partially masked the Olive Drab on the wing and just need to, ugh, mask the anti-glare on the nose and cowlings.

And the weird bits where they've sloshed paint over the old markings.

That's what the note is about.

Scan the scheme and cut some masks.

Right, here we go…

Update the software.

"No scanner Found" - great. I think I remember that from the old days.

I shall research…

64 bit drivers apparently. It won't use them.

Oh well, back to the old 'scan and import' method.

I found an image of the overworks on a decal site so, using that and smooth freehand, designed some masks:

52069165937_bcaeb32cf0.jpg

The idea is to use the outer mask to paint the overworks 'medium green' and then mask that using the inner mask.

Sounds like a plan?

Should work until I get pinched in the mouth…

Medium green eh? Ooh, ooh, I have iModelKit to check my inventory. No medium green. Rats.

I'll have a think and see which of my paint will show up.

You plonker Rodney, it's just before 6 o'clock!

That gives you an extra 2 hours to sort out the masking!

I think it works that way....

Thanks Ian - obviously my humour muscles need some exercise! :D

Strange times. I'm having to relearn things like this:

52070459534_78c477ce1f.jpg

Why won't it connect? Bluetooth connection forgotten. Hah.

Where's my Oramask? Big roll on the cupboard. Idiot.

Why won't the sheet feed? You have to stick it to a mat. Duh.

Masks cut now. Finally.

Next problem is getting used to this again:

52070733750_82cac8a46b_z.jpg

Tools. Lots of tools.

I just have to remember where they are and how to use them…

Right, glue the cowlings and stick them, temporarily, to the nacelles.

Vents open on the ground right? Right?

Lunch now and then daughter's arriving with the grandson.

More later.

Isn't it just like riding a bike Ced?

i.e.  You fall off.  Skin your Knees.  Slide off the seat onto the crossbar.  Get punctures.

Lots of pain really.

Remember and tuck yer trousers into your socks!   Carry on.

Ced: the crucifix is a bit disturbing mate. Are you starting up a religious cult and if it involves orgies on the heath, can I join?

That's not fair. You'll print bigger and better bits than the rest of us have!

It’s like that when you have a bit of a break. I had to totally re read my threads to see what the heck I was doing and remember how to do stuff. It does all come flooding back though. 🤩

I’m still thinking of doing my Airfix one in RAF costal Command livery. I’ll have to re read this thread when I get to it. 😀

Tony I need all the help I can get! :D

It is, in fact, my beloved Dyson CSYS Desk light. Love it. Apparently it has 'space age' technology that means it will last 60 years. Looks like it's on the heirloom list then… I like the up/down/in/out movement, very smooth (fnaar).

I don't think orgies on the heath are an option for me nowadays - too chilly!

Me too Johnny, me too :)

So, one of the kits is nicely injected, the other not so much.

They got cleaned up and used for my model, the better one for Jim's.

The cowlings are all the same but the vents are different for the outer nacelles.

They have small, almost invisible lugs on them that fit into almost invisible slots inside the cowlings.

Must get some new glasses - I broke my last pair :(

Outers done for both wings / models and stuck on with latex glue:

Inners next.

Ooh look, there’s bits of aeroplanes.

I hope you kept all the instruction manuals for your tools Ced, you might have forgotten how to use some of them by now ( or even what they’re for. )

Stay safe

I have a small attic window where I can see the Skirrid, sometimes I sits and thinks, and sometimes I just sits.

Very comforting to have CedB updates again
