Cheers,

I know that Bill, what concerns me is that Ced wrote it as in Maid Marian of Robin Hood fame. Can you imagine me as Robin Hood's girlfriend? On second thoughts, better not if you ever want another night's undisturbed sleep.😱

My sleep has been disturbed ever since I saw your green sparkly skin and antennae at Telford...thank God you were hiding your tentacles or I don't know what psychiatric care I might need.

Cheers,

Bill

Observant of Mars 👽

Apologies Martian, bloomin' spell chequer (ha, fooled it!) :D

Of course I won't discuss your sexual preferences - you identify whatever way you like my friend.

But are you sure you'd notice? That might be a tentacle… snurf.

See, Bill's not sure either!

Hiding your tentacles indeed :D

Robin Hood's girlfriend? Hmmm. Maybe not - you make a far better Tuck (or at least I think that's what they said…)

Wonderful bit of masking Mr B. She looks great closed up too. Going to be huge with the wings in place. 👏👏👏

Thanks Johnny :)

Keep it in bits until the last minute - that's the (probable) answer.

Don't forget the black mats before closing up!

Never done a bare metal finish plane, and I'm thinking...maybe.

Tom

Rats, sorry Tom, too late:

Notice that the ball turret support broke off, again, and now it's too late to fix it properly.

I shall have to glue the ball in (careful).

And the strut things broke off the top turret, again.

Glued, again.

Grrrr.

Seam sanding this morning.

Groan.

Hopefully they'll soon be ready for primer.

What's that you're saying?

There are wings?

By way of a rest from the intricacy of these two I've started a build of a mobile for the Grandson.

Have a look.

Six or seven 1/144 kits.

I shall never moan about tiny parts again (snurf).

Primer!

White for the red bits and prop tips, grey for the rest:

Of course this is a disclosure coat.

Jim's is looking good but mine needs more work:

I had some white left in the airbrush so decided to do the wings too:

Thanks Giorgio :)

Of course I didn't try as hard!

I've now blobbed some thin sprue gloop* on the gaps:

51168385719_0e8e7a6259_z.jpg

I'll sand that when it's set.

* I know now from hendie's thread that I should be calling it 'runner gloop' (he is our moulding expert after all) but it doesn't sound as 'cool'

Sad.

Good morning, Ced.

What consistence in the construction!, And you also start decorating a child's room! 👍

Was afraid I had hit some hentia forum my accident at first.. Thankfully there were no pictures..

Thanks Para :)

Oooer… I didn't know what a 'hentia forum' was until I Googled it - yikes!

Terry

Thanks Terry - getting closer :)

After sanding the seams on my fuselage (again) I think I'm ready to spray some paint.

The scheme is quite complex so I'm trying to work out a route to minimum masking.

Start with Red I think.

So that I can do the wingtips at the same time I've dry fitted and taped the wing halves.

Here's a shot with the 1/144 FW-190:

Thanks Giorgio - wait no longer:

Of course I'm planning to brush on the AK True Metal paste for the NMF areas so all I need to do (arf arf) is paint the other areas and then mask them:

51171056972_51fac0e434_z.jpg

So:

- mask the red

- grey underside (including elevators) next, mask then

- Olive Yellow top of waist and elevators, mask then

- Olive drab port wing panel and anti-glare on nacelles, nose and tail, mask then

- Bronze green weird patches on sides of fuselage

- NMF - hooray!

Simples 🙄

I think I'll start assembling the wings next.

Letting that dry for a bit.

Jim has supplied the external PE for his model so I'd better start that:

Something a rarely see on here is the use of Bare Metal Foil for larger areas. Is it hard to get or really costly or something there?

I don't even bother trying to paint bare metal anymore since nothing looks like unpainted aluminum metal as much as unpainted aluminum.

No masking, perfect straight dividing lines, just place, rub down with a toothpick and buff. Even comes in several different shades and sheens.

Am I cheating?

They are looking good! But I couldn't help notice the bottle of Gunze H414 in the photo - that's RLM23. Did the B-17 crew find a stash of German paint?   :)

Cheers,

Bill

PS. I know, red is red. Run what you brung.

Bare Metal Foil is easy to get but at £6-7 for a 6x11 sheet it adds quite a cost to models, especially ones of this size!

You're certainly making great use of it though Tony :)

Busted!

I ain't brung no 'Carmen Red' or whatever the FS colour is so iModelKit told me that was the closest I had.

I shall, of course, call it 'variation and weathering :D

PE? Especially tiny little bits - hate it.

Two tiny bracket thingies, floor (roof?) and one little box on each part, one more box to go:

Well I got the other boxes done:

51173253093_7923062c7a_z.jpg

Seems a shame to paint them :(

I've also applied this to these:

51173229633_40faa0817e_z.jpg

Of course I then fretted that the PE might get knocked off as I handled the part trees so decided to cut them off the gates and store them somewhere safer.

Guess what.

Two got knocked off.

Just how long does it take GG Thin to dry and then cure - do we know?

Now don't panic, but I thought it best to get answers from the horse's mouth and it seems that Gator's Grip is no longer made :weep:

I shall take care what I use my bottles for now…

I'm certainly not looking forward to this:

51173265223_7fab953745_z.jpg

What's that guys?

Find something 'on the bench' the right size to roll it around?

OK.

I may be gone some time…
