noelh
Yes I saw today that Airbus pulled out. Both they and Sikorsky have crunched the numbers and walked. The question is whether Leonardo will use their now preeminint position to renegotiate. Clearly it makes no commercial sense at the moment. My view is that Leonardo should walk too. Not good for the RAF but a reality check for the 'desk pilots' and let's be honest their new political masters, given the world we now live in since 2022. Dave Fleming
9 minutes ago, Slater said: Was Blackhawk ever a viable candidate? The RAF always regarded the Blackhawk as too small. Whether that’s still the situation is open to debate. The capabilities of the other candidates were pretty similar. The cynic may also suggest that another objection is it would be easier to transfer Blackhawks to the Army

BBC News - UK company sole bidder for £1bn MOD helicopter project https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cn49d9pxdk1o Leonardo seem to have a very different view and wish to accelerate the procurement. 22 minutes ago, Slater said: Was Blackhawk ever a viable candidate? Yes, it broadly met the main criteria. Whether it made financial business sense is another matter.
