Sword Reggiane 2001 1/48°

Recommended Posts

Hello gents! Here is the Sword model of the Reggiane 2001, previously only available in the Classic Airframe range, and not an easy kit. The Sword model is better but still has a side on the cottage industry. With a good documentation it can be turned in to something nice despite the monotony of a green over grey camo. The Re 2001 were heavily involved during the figt over Malta and were quite a match for British fighters if the dog fight was at a low or medium altitude. So here is the plane of Capitano Salvatore Teja leader of the 152a Squadriglia 2° Gruppo autonomo, San Pietro di Caltagirone in June 42. Decals are very good but I used a mix of those and home made masks. Best regards.

Wow! So many comments!🤣

I can not understand that either.

You have built a beautiful model with fine detail from a complicated kit. Congrats!

HI Jeannot

- As usual it wears  " The Great ZIGOMAR" trade mark. If my memory don't fail, you've built two others in the past year, they were as good as this one...I suppose they were involved in the "Big showcase crash"....It would have been very nice to see them together....Good show man!

Great work.  Definitely deserves more comments and more likes :)

Also, I learnt something from this, as I had no idea that the canopy folded like that when open...

😁👍 Lovely! I'll find this build a useful reference as I've just bought one myself to make alongside a spit V and a 109-G. So thanks for the reference material.

I treated myself to a print, signed by the veterans, of Nicolas Trudgian's "Fortress Malta". Once it's nicely framed, I'm going to make the three aircraft battling out in the foreground to and mount them in flight on a base together to match the artwork; Spit first, then the 2001 and finally the 109.

I did notice the kit decals come with the numbers and markings I need for the 2001 in the painting, but there's only two 1s whereas the painting has a red 11, so I would need four. Any tips on making my own masks? Not done it myself before.

Also ... by the way ...I noticed you rivetted it. Currently doing my first ever attempt at riveting. Did you use a reference photo for the pattern? I can't find one. If you still had one that you used I'd be immensely grateful.

I have a thing for Italian fighters and this is a beauty.  Lovely job you have done an I think using masks for parts of the makings makes sense as I don't see how the white decals would work over the dark green. It came out great.

Thank you very much. I used the rivet pattern of the Re 2000 for my 2001, you can find this one in Ali e colori n°6 within the serie Alid'Italia, Reggiane fighters. Concerning the red 11 it is not difficult to use the one you have, doing a photocopy and then putting some Tamiya tape on which transparency will guide your hobby knife.Best regards and enjoy your built.

Very very nice indeed! I like the patina you created on the green side and the weathering on undercarriage. I have just started a 1:48 reggiana 2005 sagittario.I could not find a lot of colour pics about italian fighter.Do you have any advice? Thanks

Hello! You will not find many colors pics of Italian aircraft but there are some collected on a book called "Wings of Italy" which by now could be out of print. I did present a Re2005 in this columns after the Re2001. Best regards
