It sure does look like large sections of the airplane were re-painted with a dark, bluish-grey paint- possibly neutral grey or a VVS color? You can clearly see remnants of medium green blotching, the original faded OD paint, and what looks like yellow zinc chromate. What was really interesting to me were the rusted sections of the landing gear struts- makes sense to me now the reason for painting struts with aluminum paint! Thanks for sharing the photos!
