nimrod54
I finished this little Mark 1 kit of the HS 748 last weekend as part of the Australia and New Zealand Group Build. The kit was built as it comes in the box with some scratch detail added like the APU housing on the starboard starboard engine and the addition of a couple of missing aerials. The GB was also dedicated to fellow Britmodeller Silver Fox who had passed encouraging comments on several of my builds previously, so there is a little nod in tribute to that fine gent who will be sadly missed. Wulfman Thanks for your kind comments chaps, I enjoyed building this one and it brought back quite a few memories for me. As a 16 year old apprentice I walked through the 748 Wing and Fuselage assembly bays every day whilst making my way into the Chadderton site Training School. The nose and centre sections, which included the wing torsion box, were produced just outside the Training School. These two major assemblies would travel across the bay into the main fuselage assembly jigs, then progress to one of the equipping areas at the top end of the factory and once completed they were ready for transport to Woodford. draggie748
Tremendous build. The only small picky point is that the RH gearbox cowl at the front is a lower more tapered lump. See Aerial shot of A10-602 here http://www.adf-serials.com.au/3a10.htm. I had 10 years of removing and replacing that cowl doing servicings on these aircraft. Cheers Phil Thanks for your comment Phil, and I can see what you mean about the taper on the gearbox cowl now, it quite easy to see now that you have pointed it out. I had looked at that photo when checking up on the roundel position on the wings and hadn't noticed it.
