Mousie
Hi All, I've been looking around for an M8 greyhound in 1:72 for a planned diorama and I've run into a bit of a problem - I can't find any kits for sale. I've tried emailing through to Italeri regarding their 7023 kit, however this is discontinued with no stock and no current plans to put this back in production. The only other option I can see is the SHQ Metal greyhound - however other than a shot of the packaging from eBay there's no information about this model available. Have any of you folks had experience with SHQ, and if so would the metal model done up fit well into a diorama of plastic models? Otherwise, are there any other options for models available, or am I out of luck in this regard? Many Thanks in advance
Niall
SHQ models are designed for the wargamer, so are made quite simply. That's not to say they can't be made into good models. There is also this 1/76th option in resin - http://www.milicast.com/shop/product.php?productid=666&cat=0&page=1
JackG
Extratech did one 20 years ago, so will be difficult to find in stock anywhere. In the 3D printing world, Shapeways has one, but some details look even chunkier than the die cast one. The former would be easier to do surgery on if you want to spice up with an aftermarket PE set, but now you have to consider is the cost worth it to you. https://www.shapeways.com/product/XNRZ3FFC5/pv82d-m8-late-production-1-72 regards, Jack Edited March 22, 2021 by JackG
sardaukar
https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/MiniGeneral This guy does a lot of more obscure stuff, he doesn't appear to have an M8 but maybe you could ask.
Mousie
Thanks so much all! Those are certainly some good options for me to take a look at, and I'm happy that there is still hope for my project. I do find it a bit odd that none of the mainstream manufacturers make a kit for the M8, especially being one of the more produced US vehicles, but oh well, that's just how it is I suppose!
