Airfix Jet Provost T3

Nice, quick out of the box build of a lovely kit. The dayglo decals were thick and brittle but using a hairdryer soon softened them enough to settle down.

Very nice. I like the silver and dayglo scheme, it reminds me of my days as an apprentice at RAF Halton where a lot of the JP instructional airframes were still in that scheme.

I went to a Halton open day in the 80s and there were JPs everywhere. The one I really remember was the sectioned camo'd one.

Great work again on this lovely kit, I had not heard of the hair dryer use before,  will bank that in the old noggin  fir future use. Thanks for the tip.

Chris

It is an excellent kit and a vast improvement on the old JP from the dark ages. I'd read a few builds of this kit and the main issue seemed to be the dayglo decals and the first couple I applied didn't want to bed down at all. I'd seen the hairdryer trick ages ago but never needed to use it. The leading edge decals are the worst due to the curvature, I put them on the wing and left most of the decal sticking straight out to the front overnight. Next day gave them a blast of warm air and a bit of water and on they went. Had a couple tear but they butted up again to close the gap without any trouble.

That's very handy, thanks for that explanation Steve.  I will have to give that a try when I get an unruly decal or two. The kit is a cracker, I did mine as a red white and grey machine in and was very chuffed with it.  You have got a cracking collection there.

Thanks

Chris

Thanks again and you're welcome, I've never used any of the decal softening solutions as there's never been a need but these decals did require some help and the heat was just enough. I was expecting to end up with bits of decal falling off and having to touch-up the dayglo but got away with it. When the kit first came out I knew I'd get two so I could do this and a red/white/grey one as they are the iconic schemes for me. Certainly didn't want to have to mask and paint the dayglo pattern so glad to have the kit decals.

All the best.
