Jinxman
Very impressive indeed - a buddy and I were looking at the base kit on Sunday, and there is a lot of work to get it this far along.
Pin
The progress is very, no, VERY slow, scalloping wings takes a lot of effort to make them look right in NFM. Have you ever tried to blow dissolved putty?
Pin
My faithful shed will soon be demolished. While the new, bigger, built for purpose workshop is under construction I will not be able to do any modelling so I need to intensify to finish this bird while I still can. Big thanks to Ferrero Rocher - mediocre chocolate but very good transparent plastic
Mjwomack
But what a fine build to go out of the old shed in style on.

Great build - there is a lot of quality work in that fuselage.

I have wide arsenal of sanding tools, including paper, tissues, sticks and sponges including this guy Sometimes I use impromptu-made bows like shown in your link, it takes just a couple of minutes to make one.

Pin
Not for the first, not for the second time I clumsily knock out the tail fin. I really like to paint wooden propellers. I used a different technique for "production" engines. I painted the "prototype" in dark steel and drybrushed; ths time I sprayed "stainless steel" and did some back washing.

Pin
Here is a poll, what configuration of props should I represent? 2x4 blade + 2x2x2 blade OR 4x4 OR 4x2x2 ???
Jinxman
4x2x2 for me - even better if you cast some of these as well 😉, cheers!
Pin
I think it looks somewhat less boring. I'm inclining towards 2x4 + 2x2x2 configuration

Pin
Now when the airframe in (almost) complete the most interesting part begins - detailing. And this plane has a lot of details that are not reflected in the original kit. Wheel hubs to start with
Pin
Trying to figure out the correct tail configuration. Rudder control wires are coming out of "blue" cowlings, going through "orange" hinge, then starboard wire goes through "red" hole in main rudder to the "purple" aerodynamic surface horn. Also the kit is missing "green" strut. Starboard side of the fin is free of any wires Note, that S-17 cannot be used as a reference, wiring is quite different Also the stabilizer seems to be moveable.

Exactly, and I foolishly refused to take the hint! The "hole" for the stabilizer is raised and ... well .... "reshaped" After taking numerous measurements and seeing a lot of pics I also decided to redo the stabilizers and elevators from scratch. The combined chord is correct but stabilizer chord of the kit's part is too long and of elevator is too short. Also note the gap that would make it possible to accommodate missing strut. Note that the hinge line is moving forward, it is also a straight line, I don't see any kinks on the available photos. Kit's shape is too "roundy" Sad shots but maybe the best to show the shape of the stabilizer, I assume they are identical for Kent and Scylla
