Royal Ulster Constabulary, 'Hotspur' Armoured Land Rover

Northern Ireland, 1985.

This is the 1/35 Accurate Armour resin/PE kit, built straight OOB.  It's finished using Vallejo Air RLM 76.

The build thread is here, if you would like to see more.

Build thread:

My choice was a scratch-built 1/72 model of an Henri Farman HF 23, a pusher hydroplane license-built by Södertelge Werkstäder.

The subject aircraft was donated to the Swedish navy air services in early 1915 by painter Anders Zorn, where it became Flying Boat No 6 and used extensively in so called neutrality patrols until crashed beyond repair in December 1916. The Farman was quickly taken out of front-line service by the warring nations, their slow velocity making them vulnerable, but as no one was shooting at them they served as the main workhorse of the Swedish marine throughout the war years, where their  main tasks were to spot drifting mines and chase away intruding warships. Later they were re-equipped with stronger engines, but mine sports a 80hp Gnome Lambda (from smallstuffmodels).

Enough rambling, here’s the mandatory photos:

Just when I thought I had finished, I did a kit swop with Pat @JOCKNEY and in return he sent me a Merlin white metal kit of the Rolls-Royce 1920 Pattern Armoured Car as used by the RAF inthe Middle East and at home in between the wars. I don't have a lot of info on the RAF machines so this is probably totally wrong but what the heck!

Work in Progress is here

A satisfying build of a good quality kit that looks the part. Far in advance on so many levels (not the least being the right size) on the Pegasus kit. My thanks to Mjwomack, Pin and trickyrich for running this group build.

For those who wish to see how the build went

Not the smoothest build I've ever done, most problems were due to enamel paint not wanting to dry  and cure, But on the whole quite a fun build to accomplish, making me step outside my normal zone and think "Out of the box" no pun intended:innocent:

Thanks for stopping by and having a look see.

Oertz W6 scratch built in 1/48th. Probably the oddest flying boat ever made and quite a complex and demanding build.

A big bus and quite an imposing model next to more mainstream stuff, pleased with the results.

Everytime I look at the photos I can’t help but feel there should be a Brass band playing in the background :) here’s the wip thread.

And finally my 1/48 scratch built Alcock Scout aka the Sopwith Mouse.  What would be know in the motor industry as a parts bin special . Designed by John Alcock a notable pilot of the time. The cowl, foward fuselage and lower wings came from. Sopwith triplane , the upper wing from a Pup, the tail from a Camel. All things considered it made for quite a sleek looking plane by the standards of the day.

This kit has been in my stash a long time and I’m pleased to see it finally built! It’s a short run resin kit and has some issues, but it scrubs up nicely enough. Build thread is here if you are interested.

Thanks for looking,

Adrian

* L-space, short for library-space.

Large quantities of books warp space and time around them.  The principle of L-space revolves around a seemingly logical equation; it is an extension of the 'Knowledge is Power' equation.

BOOKS = KNOWLEDGE = POWER = (FORCE X DISTANCE ÷ TIME).

So this GB almost escaped me, but I managed a last day 12 hour build (with football and gardening interruptions!) of a New York urban scene using resin details, paper accessories and wooden parts for an all plastic-free build.

Come see images of the real New York graffiti this was based on in the rather brief WIP thread
