Romeo Alpha Yankee
This was started back in 2018 for the Maritime Patrol GB And continued in last year's They Also Server GB I am finally inspired to finish this off, I suppose it was after post on the Welsh Models Facebook page of a chap adding the weapons bay to his (not as far along as me) I decided I would get this finished. I took it down from the shelf to remind myself how far along it was After the last prime some more filling was done and that has been sanded off. I have also been adding more detail as I have been seeing it Including the the front and rear walls of the weapons bay itself. The first bay door has been installed and needs some clean up once the glue dries On the home stretch now and I am now looking at the weapons pylons to hang a couple of Harpoons from and modding some Hasegawa MK46 torpedoes to MK54s (or closed enough) to add in the weapons bay
hsr
If you are planning on adding the landing gear and you kit came with the resin gear, (early versions of the kit came with white metal gear), be aware that the resin gear on mine collapsed within a few weeks of completion. I ended up using brass tubing and bits and pieces of the original gear to get it back on its gear. Nice build so far. good luck with it.
TheyJammedKenny!
Wow, RAY, this looks sharp! It looks like a really complex kit to tackle. With my little eye, I spy: a Viscount!!!

Thanks Howard, The plan was always to do it wheels up so you could see the stuff in the bay. Mine is a very early issue kit and has white metal gear. 1 hour ago, TheyJammedKenny! said: Wow, RAY, this looks sharp! It looks like a really complex kit to tackle. Thanks Alex, been working on this one one and off for a couple of years now, the Viscount is back on it gear after some surgery to stretch it and I am working on the slipper tanks now, should be finished soon.
Romeo Alpha Yankee
I have finally added the other weapons bay door and hit it with the first coat of Boeing Grey. I did it at night and it turned out patchy, So another coat to come and then a lot of masking of the other colours I also recent received the BPK 737-800 and compared the fuselage length. It turns out the lengthening of the Welsh fuselage was worth effort. Next are the weapons pylons, I started with one for a Hornet pylon (top) and reshaped, the bottom is the final shape, might add the sway braces to finish it up. The middle one needs some more work to make it like the bottom. Finally some Hasegawa MK46 torps that I hop to resemble MK54s
kev67
Looking really good, I believe the undercarriage legs are a little short on the Welsh kit making the engines sit to low down, I also have the BPK 737 800, its not the easiest of kits to build especially trying to blend the passenger glazing to the fuselage
TheyJammedKenny!
Great job on this beast, Ray! It's really coming along, and good catch on the airframe length. Perhaps certain airlines will order installation of weapons bay doors on their 737-800's, possibly as a post-build mod, to assist with unruly passengers!

rob Lyttle
An Airliner with a weapons bay..... Is that allowed ⁉️😜 Looking very graceful and stylish. Definitely deserves to make the finishing line 👍
Romeo Alpha Yankee
Thanks More progress on the P-8, the finish line is in sight! Today more painting, unmasking, masking and painting. Finally a gloss coat to tie it all together and hide some finishing flaws. I also added some paint to the weapons bay and added a war load And am working on the pylons and found the harpoons to go on them. I noticed some paint stuff ups in the pictures, so those will have to be rectified.
TheyJammedKenny!
Nicely done! What's your choice of decals/markings? I assume you're at the point of decision on this.

TheyJammedKenny!
Hmmm, maybe it's just me, but if you have some 707 or other commercial 737 cockpit window decals, those might look better than what came with your P8 sheet. The shape looks a little "off" to me, but if you're satisfied, by all means proceed, sir!

Romeo Alpha Yankee
Almost there now (though when I look at the pictures I post I find things that need fixing!) Pylons on Harpoons in course of a repaint (I wasn't happy with the first effort) Anti glare are covered on flat coat (I think I will have to fix that are in front of the windscreen though)

mitchem
Crikey Ray. Lots of lumps. bumps and sticky-out things on that ! My carpet monster would have been able to retire on the offerings if I'd been building one of those 😆. Congratulations on getting it over the finishing line. mike
