Not much wrong with that !

Wish I didn't know what I was doing as well as the progress so far.

A little beginners luck and a lot of help from YouTube

Not the easiest kit to start your new journey, but you've killed the seat and cockpit.

TRF

I'm finding it to be a good challenge and about the right difficulty level for where I'm at. There's a lot going on but it's a well engineered, generationally ahead of what I used to build as a kid. Plus there's plenty of YouTube videos of belle building this kit and variants of it.

Most of its challenging but very achievable if you take your time. Moulding quality is excellent with a great level of detail.  Only requires very minor fitting work

I would recommend it to people who have got the basics down and want to step out up to the next level.

Looking good, welcome to BM. Thank heavens for Eduard cockpit detail sets! You seem to have cracked the airbrushing, however I see you are using an Xacto type hobby knife. I find the blades quite dull cutting edge wise. I much prefer surgical scalpel blades. Purchased by the box (100 at a time0 they are a far better modelling proposition.

I'll follow your buiild.

Thanks mate.

It is a very nice kit, though shortly after I spent hours carving out the old ECS pipes to fit resin replacement the new Meng kit came out with interchangeable pieces to pick the right version. If you're looking at a Super Hornet I'd look very hard at that as its a more modern kit on new tooling with a few party tricks.

This kit is challenging in places but for the right reasons. The seams are intelligently positioned we're they're not likely to be seen. It seems to be a pretty accurate faithful kit as far as my research goes. There would only be very minor issues that you'd have to have a fairly intimate knowledge of the aircraft to know to look for. The only significant accuracy issue is the old style ECS vents moulded into the top of the fuselage that are a pain to swap out for newer revisions if you want to be consistent with newer paint schemes. At no point have I found myself fighting quality of manufacture issues or poor engineering. Quite a rewarding kit to work on.

First coat of light ghost grey on the sections that will be occluded by the intakes and will be a pain to paint later. Practicing pre shading and blending on the parts that are not going to ever be seen.

Test fitting. The fit on the intakes is close but not quite there. Needs a little fitting work with a file to do something about those haps and correct alignment issues
