One of these was captured and sent to America for evaluation so there are a few extra options.

gonna do Wilma Jeanne with stars and bars, sadly HB didn´t provide US markings, have to search for some suiting ones in our stash

Is it possible to add the barrel after painting?

Sadly not due to the shape of the barrel. It becomes thicker towards the fuselage and it doesn't fit through the smaller nose hole. You could try to cut off the nose tip and attach it in the end of the build together with the barrel.

I hope it survives all the handling until the model is finished...
