IMPORTANT GROUP BUILD GALLERY INFORMATION

Dear Prospective Matchbox (50th Anniversary) GB model members.

History suggests that these ‘Classic / Manufacturer’ GB’s tend to become quite popular with the eventual number of models entered into one Gallery becoming way too many for the end of Group Build Poll to handle. Therefore, we have decided to do something a little different by creating four GB Galleries to facilitate some exciting polling to take place at the end. There will be four specific galleries categorised as below -

Gallery #1 - Aircraft (Purple / Orange) Range

Gallery #2 - Aircraft (Red / Brown / Green) Range

Gallery #3 - Armour (Purple / Orange) Range

Gallery #4 - Auto / Marine / Figures (All ranges)

So when your beautiful Matchbox kits are finished, please create your Gallery Post within the appropriate gallery thread. @Enzo Matrix has kindly allowed for this to occur, so expect to see these threads opening up about a week prior to GB start…. that makes it 01 Jan 2022!

This GB is only six weeks away and there’s a large festive season to celebrate two weeks prior. How many of us can recall unwrapping one of Rox Huxley’s superbly painted artworks for Christmas (I certainly can)…. Is anyone expecting this to happen again in 2021?

Cheers and thanks for your understanding… Dave

Question ? What if all the kits I have are in bags, I don't even know what series these are from ? Hopefully there will he someone to assist those of us that are clueless.

Just tell us what you have Dennis and I'm sure more than one of us can help you place it within the right category. What do you have in mind so far? I might be able to answer it for you off the top of my head!

Cheers.. Dave

Dennis,

The Havoc is PK-120 (Orange range), whilst the beaut little Tempest is PK-23 (Purple Range).

Therefore, they would both be placed in Gallery #1 (Aircraft - Purple & Orange ranges).

Cheers and best of luck.. Dave

That Skyservant is a wee cracker @Julien, excellent stuff!

So with now you and @Enzo Matrix joining in, how many other modelling BM Mods would like to declare their hand?

Cheers and thanks for the support.. Dave

…. great to have you with us #87.

You know in Aussie Cricket circles 87 is considered very bad luck….. (cause you’re 13 away from a Century).

Lucky we’re not playing Cricket I suppose, however by the time this GB Starts  I’d say we’ll be 3-nil up in the Ashes!

Cheers.. Dave

I think that between us we must be close to clearing kingkit out of matchbox. Surprised they're not sponsoring the GB!

They got cleared out of lots of French plastic when the Heller GB was on too. They must love it when a classic GB comes around.

Hi Giorgio

Oh YES!  Yes, please do!   Not that many Matchbox kits can be done in Irish Air Corps markings.....and the Hs 125 is quite rare these days.

Philip

Having lived for many years in Ireland, I am slowly trying to build a selection of aircraft operated by the IAC, the HS.125 is pretty interesting even if the -600 only flew with them for a short time. I'll have to decide between 236 with the tricolour trim and 239 with black trim...  would sure make for an unusual addition to the GB, I bet not many would be built here.

Regarding the ki, I was lucky to get one at an almost decent price a couple years ago and I actually have another disassembled that I built as one of my earliest models when Matchbox was still going strong and the kit was in their catalogue. The new one will be Irish and the old one will be British. I'd actually like to build a 700 series but I've yet to think of ways to reproduce the different engines.

Why's that - are England not going now?

Ha… no, they are here and actually doing some quasi quarantining in my home town. England have been certainly strengthened by the inclusion of that Kiwi Ben Stokes, so my predictions may be somewhat over enthusiastic to be honest.

Cheers and may the better team win.. Dave

@Rabbit Leader as a Welsh bloke I’m pretty ambivalent about the cricket but would remind my friends from across the dyke that even if Australia win the Ashes their Autumn Internationals haven’t been particularly successful.

The only thing worse than a whining Pom etc etc!

Nice purchase @davecov the little Puma is a lovely kit. I must admit I can’t quite recall seeing Matchbox’s A-10 being built, so that would be my pick from the other choices.
Cheers and best of luck.. Dave

Thanks Dave.

Yes, the Puma is a nice kit and I have built it once before - in the Seventies! Out of the others in my list, I have built only the Lysander. I have been planning to build the Lysander along with a Frog and an Airfix one in my stash so that may well not get built in this GB. Out of the remaining three, I doubt if the Corsair will be built so the A-10 does have a 50-50 chance but I guess we will have to wait and see...
