Cyber-Hobby 1/72 Sea Venom FAW.21

Ahh yes dust is a right pain , I brush paint and at the mo am doing the Ventura TT and brush on the thinned yellow paint as I am a masochist,  which generally is okay but as soon as I gloss over it with a gloss coat all these little bloomin fibres appear like magic !!!

The sesvenom looks good and I am sure you will easily sort the issue fella.

Thanks Chris,

It'll get sorted in the morning.

At worst I'll strip the paint off an start again.

Just caught up with this one Ali. Must say it's looking good from over here, paint problems aside - you're recovery plan is very sound.

I'm trying to decide whether to (reluctantly) reveal a just- completed Alpha Jet in glorious dust-magnet black - not a great choice of finish when you have end-stage Grade IV dandruff like me!

Keep calm and keep mangling plastic.

Thanks very much.

Mangling plastic is exactly what I do.

Stick the Alpha Jet up. I'm quite certain that you are going to be your harshest critic and it won't be justified.

Some masking was applied and then 2 coats of Pledge over the joins to try and seal things.

I rubbed the wings down and got this.

and this,

So, I stripped the paint of the port wing to prepare for these

Better but not perfect, some micromesh required I feel.

And after a short time.

The beauty of Colourcoats used with it's own thinner.

Some minor touch-ups required but I knew that I would get that with the masking and less than I thought.

Chuffed.

Thanks for looking,

Oooooo very nice indeed Alistair,  This looks great,  cracking job

Chris

Thanks Chris,

I'm fairly chuffed with the results.

Was beginning to despair a tad thinking I was heading for another disaster.

Hi Alistair,

Looking very good, and an excellent save on the wings - any idea what caused it?

Getting close to the finish line now :)

Cheers,

Mark

Thanks Mark,

No idea what caused the wing issue.

Either I didn't stir the paint enough, although I stirred it for about 5 minutes left it for a couple and then stirred again or there was some residue of something on the wing that caused the paint to separate.

Not sure which. I've never had any problem with Colourcoats before other than not mixing sufficiently.

Whatever it was it was user error. Lesson learned.

It shouldn't take too many more sessions to get it over the line.

Cheers,

Alistair

Great result!

I'm tempted to try the colourcoats enamels - heard nothing but positive comments on their quality and accuracy.

Out of interest, how much do you thin them, and what pressure for spraying?

Looking forward to seeing this one past the finishing post.

Thanks very much,

They are truly wonderful paints.

I thin them about 50/50 with Colourcoats thinner which is naptha based, hence the quick touch dry properties.

Sprayed at about 10 PSI but with a light touch on the trigger.

Jamie has a masterful Youtube video on how to do it correctly.

I would heartily recommend giving them a go you won't regret it.

Hi Alistair, just caught up your build.

Apart from the paint problems she is looking fine.

Good old "Micro Mesh" the cure all for finishes.

Simon.

Thanks Simon.

Micro-mesh the cure for most of my lack of skill. :D.

Masked up and sprayed the ESDG on the wings and a light respray on the back of the fuselage that I'd missed somehow.

Wheels are now rubber covered and the undercarriage has had a wee wash.

Not sure if I'll get any more done today, don't want to mess up the paint if it's still cooking and back at work tomorrow.

Cheers,

Alistair

Weird paint problem there Ali but it looks like you've sorted it now - she's looking very smart :)

Thanks very much Ced.

Still not sure what I did to cause that to happen.

Waiting for the paint to dry, then mask up and spray the nose and then she'll be ready for a gloss coat and stickers. :yahoo:

thanks for looking,

Thanks Chris,

The white, surprisingly, went down with no issues.
