1/32 HK Models Lancaster nose art kit

Recommended Posts

Loved this idea.  Large scale details kit of just the nose section of the 1/32 Lancaster.  Lots of detail on display with no worries about where to store a full size model.  Hope they do it with thier B-17 kit too.

I brought eduard seatbelts and interior detail set.  I also added a lot of detail to the nose section with lead wire and bits from the spares box etc.  The most crazy thing I did was creating the cage around the bomb computer in the nose.

I  Made a little stand for the nose turret to be displayed separately as it is a mini kit in itself.  The nose turret on the stand I made, reminds me of the baby robots in 'Batteries not included'

I also decided to get the Eduard masking set as there are a lot of windows on this thing.

I used the clear fuselage half and carefully masked it up inside and out to get the museum style windows on one side to be able to see the detail on the inside.  Luckily the masking matched up on both sides!!.

Really nice. Superbly executed.

Does anyone else think like me that this sort of model is a money spinner. We have cockpit fest in real life ( I know what was that?? 😀)  Why cannot this be done in model form??

Totally agree. In this scale it is big enough to add lots of detail. Have a good size model which doesn't take up a lot of space (unlike the full size aircraft kit!)  WishHK models would do the same thing with their B-17, B-25 and mosquito kits!

Really clever masking to show the interior detail.

I like the way you have added connectors to the wiring

It looks to be ideal to have a collection on a shelf . . .

You have made a good representation of the real thing, crackin job  . . .

Lovely build and finish, have one on back order from hannants, first batch must have sold out really quickly.

I did the same last year. Had it on back order for months.

I just found this build and it gives me great inspiration and ideas that I will use for my own build.  I have the full size version of the 1/32 B-17, B-25, B-24, plus the 1/24 Mosquito and I just do not think there is room for a full size Lancaster.  I did break down and buy this nose art kit hoping it would work out.  Your build has shown me it more can more than just work out.  Now if I can just somehow funnel your talent into my woefully inadequate building skills!!

Thanks George.  I recently completed the 1/24 mosquito too.  I really don't know where to put it 🙂  - building Just the nose section (and possibly one of the engines on a stand) would have been a great idea (although there is a lot of plastic to throw away just to do that.  Would love to get the 1/32 B-17, 24 and 25, but where on earth do you put them when built.  Have heard of people hanging them on the wall.  My wife is understanding, but I think that would push past her patience limit!  Would love to do just the nose sections of each of those bombers in that scale though.
