Varnish on Matt black

Hi

I have painted an Airfix Bolton Paul defiant in the Matt black nightfighter markings. I am wanting to give it a coat of Matt varnish. However brushing it on will cause a white residue I believe. However will using Matt varnish in a spray rattle can do the same?

I use Games Workshop Citadel Munitorium Varnish in a rattle can. Works a treat.

Does it work well on Matt blacks and Grey's?

Yes, I have used it on B-1B, SR 71 and F 117 to good effect, Have you decalled the Defiant yet?

No not yet. Just finished painting. Was planning on giving it a coat first.

If you decal onto matt paint/varnish, the decal film will 'silver'. Always decal onto a gloss finish, then matt afterwards.

Halfords Gloss Black, Print Scale decals (shudder), and Games Workshop varnish as above.

Looks very good. Will have to get some of the varnish.
