Can CA glue be polished clear or is it essentially opaque when set?

I need to add a little landing light to a 1/72 helicopter, I've made a recess that I figure I'll line with a bit of foil. If I then fill the hole with CA can I sand and polish it with increasingly fine grades of wet and dry/Micromesh will it come up transparent?
