srkirad
Good evening mates, this is kit(s) I'm joinning this GB with - simple but reasonably well detailed Platz A-4E in braillescale. Box contains 2 kits, so as @Enzo Matrix would say - let's build them all! Decals are given for 4 aircraft - I chose to do the middle two: - VMA-211 Wake Island Avengers - VMA-311 Tomcats See you soon in "work in progress" stage... Cheers, S.
modelling minion
Welcome aboard sir, and with the smallest kits in the GB so far. Platz have a reputation for high quality so these should be nice builds. Good choices on the decals, Hasegawa chose the same two for one of their 1/48 releases. Looking forward to seeing these built up.
jean
Hi Srkirad, these Platz A-4s have earned rave reviews, so you should build two little wonders. Have a lot of fun. JR
srkirad
Thanks mates, looking through the parts, I saw their number is not so big, and having cockpit basically a ejection seat, I presume assembling will be pretty straightforward. Painting is also simple - having done 3 Tomcats in 1/144 recently, I'm used to this scheme now Probably the biggest work on these two will be placing decals, as there are a pretty decent number of them on the sheet. John Masters
Yes...these will be fun to see.

srkirad
These little fellas were a bit on "standby" during last month, due to finishing some other projects, but I did some work on them, so here is the current state - all the main parts assembled, and ready for cockpit painting, and inserting of ejection seat(s)... Maybe there is some small repair work on few places, but overall this is not too far from primer phase.... Cheers, S.
modelling minion
They do look very nice indeed, especially for 1/144 scale. You have done a very neat job on their builds.
srkirad
Assembling of main parts is done, primer is sprayed, and today I've done preshading too. Cheers, S.
modelling minion
That is very nice pre-shading, especially as it is in 1/144 scale, far neater than when I try it in 1/48! I am looking forward to seeing the paint on, should be great.
srkirad
First color (white) is finished, I will spray grey probably during weekend. Cheers, S.
modelling minion
Looks like a nice smooth coat to me.

srkirad
Today I've painted Grey upper surfaces - Gunze FS26440, lightened with few drops of white for middle parts of panels, so preshading is a bit more emphasized now. Next step is gloss coat before decals... Cheers, S.
modelling minion
Really nice job on the grey, the pre-shading and then lightening the centre of the panels has worked really well.
srkirad
Nearing the end... Decals are positioned and protected with a coat of gloss varnish. I'll wait few days for gloss coat to cure, and then do some subtle wash. Cheers, S.
modelling minion
Well these are both looking superb, you would never know that they are 1/144 scale. The decals have gone on really nicely and make for two nice and colourful schemes.
srkirad
Yeah, decals are really tailor-made - I was pretty surprised how precisely they fit onto their place, although I did have to repaint antiglare area mid part because decal halves didn't touch at the center... Nasty part was on VMA-311 (WL) bird's tail - red stripes were ALL separate decals, so it required a bit of concentration and patience

srkirad
Finish line! They would be finished before old deadline probably, but 2 week GB extension came very well for easy finishing of these two "key rings" VMA-211 Wake Island Avengers VMA-311 Tomcats Family photos Thanks for this STGB - it was joyful ride till the end. helios16v
Without the pics with the thumbdrive I'd call BS on them being 1/144th! Very well done. 1
modelling minion
Well they look fantastic! As Chris says above, if you didn't know that they are 1/144 scale I would never have guessed it. You have achieved two excellent builds that have been very nicely painted. Thanks for having taken part in the GB and producing such excellent models.
Andwil
I’ll echo what the others have said above. They can quite easily be taken for much larger scale, very well done! AW
