Probably, but I don’t have any gloss varnish either! The paint will come in useful when I make my Sea King and Sycamore at some point anyway.
Lord Riot
Yet another respray! I wasn’t happy with the silver or the demarcation line so more masking required ... Looking better now I think. And a straighter line. Just a few bits of touching up needed around the intakes mostly.

I always brush a coat either gloss or matt varnish to seal the edge so I get a good demarcation line
Lord Riot
After all the attempts at spraying and masking I still ended up having to tidy up the spine with a pot of Humbrol gloss yellow. Close up photos are always a harsh judge on my painting so I think once it’s on the shelf it should be good enough after a bit more tidying up.
Lord Riot
I think this will have to do!
heloman1
Ouch with the making. However, I think the problem might be yours, the packing states the 'glue' is moisture activated by that I think it means water based paint as in PVA decorators paint. Tamiya tape if you are using anything else! Colin
Lord Riot
Undersides tidied up a bit ready for the undercarriage. I washed over a light coat of dirt wash too though I’m guessing these Hunters were generally kept quite clean. Tail and jet pipe fitted.

Lord Riot
Always a relief when they don’t tail sit. Need to add more undercarriage doors yet but I’m pleased with the stance. Even in my ham fisted modelling the Hunter looks such a graceful aircraft. Looking forward to making the Airfix 1/48 ones at some point. Two may not be enough though given all the squadrons available. Nice glossy finish from those new spray cans, definitely looks more 50s/60s I think.
Selwyn
A top tip when masking to stop paint creep under your tape. Paint your appropriate kit bits (in your case yellow) freehand. When dry then mask them up as required with the tape. Then paint over the tape concentrating on the tape edges with your yellow paint then let dry. This yellow paint coat over the tape will bleed under the tape but, as its the same colour it doesn't matter, but what's important is it seals the edges of the tape peventing your camoflage colours bleeding under. When dry paint on your camoflage colours. they dont bleed under as the edges of the tape have been sealed, and give a great line when you remove the masking tape, you can mask really fine lines using this method. Hope this helps, Selwyn 1
Lord Riot
Thanks @Selwyn that’s a fantastic tip and one I’ll definitely use next time!
Lord Riot
Ready for the decals. Stencils first. I’ll be making this as XG209 rather than the kit option as sadly 204 was subsequently lost in a crash. Found some 9s in the spares bag so all good, just need the code letter C for this one. I remembered not to paint the rear frame on the canopy! It’s a nice little kit this, just wish my painting could have done it justice.
