robw_uk
thanks both... limited modelling time (would;ve been any way due to the garden fence needing painting) as I managed to fall ~6ft off a ladder and crack my ribs (rear) off a plant pot. Think there is at least one cracked but the pain has gone down... so today managed to crack on with the upper hull... going together well and I am really glad I took time to d a rudimentary interior. Not sure when I will get chance to paint it up (need to paint other models first)
vytautas
I feel very sorry for you for a broken rib, I know what it is, be careful. But I see howitzer construction continues, and that’s great Vytautas
Hamden
Sorry to hear about your injuries Rob, wishing you a speedy recovery. Your progress on this one is outstanding, you have definitely raised the bar with this one! Looking forward to seeing it in paint now Stay safe Roger
robw_uk
thanks both.... ordered the brown & green paint today (plus going to try Mig Transparator as the thinner).... but not sure when painting will happen - maybe over Easter but probably after
robw_uk
managing some build time but not 100% as much as I want.... leaving smaller PE for now so on to the gun. Quite a few small bits but goes together well... and then finally just resting it all together - starting to look the part
edjbartos
Bad news Rob, hope you get better soon mate. ( I don't know, the things you have to do to get out of house work! 😁) Any way your build is looking good... Ed
SoftScience
Sorry about your injury. I wish you a speedy recovery. Your SPG is looking suitably weird and awesome. Really looking forward to seeing paint on it.

robw_uk
thanks all... ribs healing well, sneezing hurts tho 😉 gun finished (Well it was until I broke the piston that controls the elevation while trying to take photos... it only sits on a small pin and the other end in a small hole with a PE strap - will repair but probably going to be fixed (which is OK as wanted it in the travel lock once painted)). Need to add tie down lops to the "turret" ring and then add home made weld beads around it, make the tracks (link & length) and then look at the fuel drums - might just do the mountings or perhaps one off one on (and battered)
edjbartos
Looks good Rob some nice detail on this will look great when painted... Ed
SoftScience
good call on adding weld beads to the ring. That will be a nice touch. How did this thing work in real life. Was the gun fired pointing backwards like that (requiring the tank to turn around for firing) or did they turn the gun around and load/fire from inside the ring? I am going to assume it was fired over the rear as it is now, there are platforms I need to add to the front that they stood on
robw_uk
build almost complete, need to add rear mudguards, weld beading round the opening and then do the tracks bit I think I need to paint the interior first. May be able to get paint time this weekend but need to prime the Pz III first struggled with the rear fuel tanks so one on (damaged), one showing a broken bracket.... and some damage to front fenders
robw_uk
Interior primer on, now it is starting to come together. Front part will be white, rear will be same as external (sand grey)
robw_uk
base coated interior - mig white & mig sand.... need to weather it up of course as well as paint the details
robw_uk
some interior detail painting... need to scuff it all up a touch then can join top & bottom.... not 100% with the sand colour, need to check I have the right one when it comes to the exterior - could be with pale grey to desaturate that it looks ok - just looks too "orange" at the moment...
robw_uk
confirmed the paint is the wrong colour - will need to respray just a little )may be just the turret ring interior)
robw_uk
interior done, will put the top on later but started on the link & length tracks.... so far so good... think this one is nearly ready for painting

Ouch Dan Hi Dan, hope to see yours progress on the "other site".... I did the free-hand camo, and then redid it... actually not too bad I must say. Ammo paints as called out in the kit (not 100% on the sand yellow but with some weathering should tone down) thinned with Ammo transparator. Some overspray but, again with weathering, should tone down....
DanReed
I've put it away for a bit to try and finish up a few other projects. I like your colors here. It is really a nice kit to build isn't it?
