modelling minion
Perhaps if it got too warm then that would explain it sticking. Or; 1 minute ago, Marklo said: Now that I think of it there is also a vague possibility that it was sculpey not bluetack, hmm…. That would explain it perfectly!
Shalako
Seriously, I think the organisers of this group build must give you a prize, just for attempting to convert the B to an E!!! 1
Marklo
Not happy with the finish so after a few hours in disinfectant and white spirit soaking in water. Will get the toothbrush out tomorrow and get it back to plastic and go again. Oh well not a total disaster but frustrating. 1

Good at a distance but a bit scabrous close up where the sculpy ( d’oh) didn’t come off. It was sort of ok but it would have niggled at me, if I’d have left it. Won’t take that long to get back on track. Speaking of which must get more bluetack and perhaps store it in a marked container from now on Edited April 1, 2021 by Marklo

I've been watching with curiosity, but just couldn't understand why you airbrushed the camo without masking the MiG outline. Here's mine from a Hasegawa kit. 7

Will see what way I go on the second attempt. 1

Marklo
Back in primer. This time from a rattlecan, as I had it handy from another job.
jean
Hi Marklo, I am impressed at your perseverance! Keep at it. A silly question; have you checked what happened to the inside of the cockpit after a complete submersion in a toxic and corrosive bath? Keep having fun! No a good question. I had to reattach the canopy so had a good look. The interior looks like it held together pretty well. I think the scrubbing with the fibreglass pen was the more abrasive process, the chemical bath just loosened things. That said we’ll see when I unmask the canopy. Worst case scenario, I have to carefully repaint the interior and ask Airfix nicely for a new canopy, but I don’t think it will come to that.

modelling minion
A good bit of masking for the canopy Marklo, always better to err on the side of caution and put on more than you think you will need.

Marklo
Masked up. Underside, oops a bit blurry Upper surfaces. Pleased with that. Now yo get the sculpey out if the wheel wells and a few home brewed decals.

Marklo
Unfortunately my canopy has gone cloudy. I’ll attempt to finish polish it out but I’m also emailing Airfix
