Beazer
I realized today when I closed up the fuselage I installed the gun cowls improperly. Luckily I was able to pop them out with minimal fuss and install them correctly. I also took the time to pop out the exhausts and guns because apparently I can leave off the oil rad and access all that good stuff after paint. Gonna have to fix up the seams shortly .

Beazer
Missed a couple spots but she’s together and the RLM 02 is on. The underwing guns don’t have a perfect fit so may clean them up a bit.
Beazer
Added the white and prepping for the yellow for later tonight. I was looking into my stash of 109s for the stgb build and Im almost tempted to build an addidtional 4 more!

Beazer
RLM 70 on. Now my plan (experiment) is to mask and paint the RLM 71 and then once dry I will spray AMT-4 over it. I don’t intend to create full coverage, I almost want the 71 to show through in some areas. Seeing how the original paint was splinter and the field applied Russian green would have been more of a hastened paint job if I choose to chip away at specific spots that 71 should show through. Rushing my Africans a little bit so going to test the waters a bit but most likely stay safe and comfortable with proven techniques.
Beazer
That is quite the departure from 71. Edited May 13, 2021 by Beazer

Apparently they used AMT-4 over RLM 71 in the field for this particular aircraft. I mean after some weathering it “should” all come together. Ironically it looks almost Russian, they had the dark colours with the light greens and if it worked in the Caucasus then I could see why the Germans would have acquired looted Soviet stockpiles and modified their aircraft. I’m happy I undercoated in 71 as I think I’m going to very lightly sand the Soviet paint to expose a bit of the original paint.
Graham Boak
Did the Russians use light greens? I don't think so - the Russian standard was quite a darker green with black. There have of course been a lot of older sources (and perhaps newer ones based on old sources) suggesting otherwise, but should be treated with the same respect as stories of He.113s in the Battle of Britain. PS A quick look at Colourcoats brought up this rendition of AMT-4 hxxps://www.ebay.com/itm/164860663937?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 which is indeed quite close to RML 71, but not a lot like the colour in your posting. Which paints were you using?

I used Vallejo Model Air, honestly I didn’t bother to do some history on the colour so now I’m going to go back and if needs be respray.
Beazer
Honestly Its gotta be my camera and my fluorescent bulb in my desk lamp. I have the apple 12 and it must like to enhance colour. I compared the vallejo to my AKAN and they are virtually identical, AKAN has a bit more yellow tone and those are usually Bang On for soviet paints. In real life the colours much closer to a medium olive, or a lighter version of RLM 71. I kinda want to mess with my settings now post photo just to get it accurate for you guys. Perhaps i'll do a dark wash to bring down the tone and blend it in better.
Corsairfoxfouruncle
In the end its your model and if it looks good to you stick with it. For what its worth it doesn't look bad and I'm sorry if my statement was taken that way. I was mostly trying to say it was quite far apart for what I would normally see. No worries mate, its dramatically different without the tonal changes on my phone. Still trying to figure out how to adjust it to more realistic levels. Going forward I glossed and put on the decals. Forgot the silver and rlm 76 square that goes underneath the swastika so fixing that little issue. I'm presuming not everyone is a fan of them(incl SWMBO) but I only have swastikas to replcate the aircrafts looks and am in no way condoning some of the atrocities that were exhibited in the war.

Same reason for me, I am a student of history. It wouldn't feel right to display it with incomplete markings.
