Zigomar 2,751
Here is the story. I have done this model some years ago as it was a real nice rendition of the Dornier 217 and the modeling world had cried for it. Using the CMK resin set, which was painful to fix, I came up with a KG2 "Holzhammer" plane, took some pics and went on. Since then I have changed of computer two times and I thought that those pics were lost. Yesterday while cleaning Google photos they were back! Being all joy I share them with you, and the last pic will show you where the model finished its life, when my shelves collapsed killing nearly 50% of my collection! Since then, shelves are fixed with metal support and are full again! obdl3945 436
Aargh...! Jean, what a shame about your collapsed shelves and the partial destruciton of your collection. You had some really nice kits there, including the Italian aircraft. Your Dornier looks great. I built the Revell kit and also had issues with fitting the CMK engines but it looks decent. Hopefully we may see some more of your handywork in future. Regards, Paul
Holzhamer 619
That’s a sad end for a lot of models I’m currently building this same kit, have a WIP published on the section. I don’t have the CMK resin to add, instead I had bought (back in 2001 when I purchased the kit) the Verlinden set. Trust me CMK is far better for sure very nice 217, I think I saw this model somewhere in the web, and found it one of the best made.

ColinChipmunkfan 568
Your Dornier looks very good indeed. I know it is no consolation for you but I am sure many of us have suffered similar fates. I was awakened on night by crashing sound and found that a shelf had collapsed in my display cabinet and had wrecked my collection of 11 E.E. Lightnings. Colin
Gary Brantley 2,243
That looks (looked?) great Jean! Very nice work on that big bird and a shame that it met that fate. C'est la vie indeed.
IPMS19 2,703
- OH YEAH.......I remember that bloody show case crash.........it doesn't make us younger..... 2010 may be? That reminds me when two of my cats decided a hide and seak party through the upper shelve of three underneath; the top one smashing the under ones. all my 1/72 air force smashed at the first run........my wife reading quietly on the sofa under had just an arrow escape...... WeekendModeler 35
Photo-realistic work, Zigomar. I, too, had a similar misfortune of having the bulk of my completed models destroyed. In my instance, it was with a crushed box during a change of residence.
Sky Keg 1,913
The Do-217 is flying victorious over it`s adversaries in the final picture. The gruesome carnage is on display for all to see. By the way, the 217 ain`t too bad either. Great work as always Jean. Mike

Tigerausfb 10
The shelf collapse happened to me in 2010, Years of modelling gone in one big crash so I know how you must have felt. I was so disheartened that I gave up modelling completely and never touched another model since, until last week. Edited March 1 by Tigerausfb
