David Wallace Posted February 26, 2021 Posted February 26, 2021 (edited) This is my build of the Takom 1/35 FV432 Mk2/1. I have fitted the Scorpion Miniature Model resin kits, Mk1 Interior, Mk1 Exterior and Floatation device together with MasterClubs metal tracks. The FV432 is one of my favourite armoured vehicles and brings back memories from my childhood living in and around British Army garrisons in both UK & Germany during the 1960's & 1970's while my Dad was serving in 1st Battalion Royal Irish Fusiliers and then 1st Battalion Royal Irish Rangers. David Wallace Posted February 26, 2021 Author Posted February 26, 2021 Yes, I am very proud of my Dad and his time serving with the British Army. He is still with us and this build is for him and his display case. 1
Dads203 Posted February 26, 2021 Posted February 26, 2021 Very nice build David Worked on the 43 series for 11 years and you have captures the early version really well fella. 1
ivan-o Posted February 26, 2021 Posted February 26, 2021 Yep that looks very nice👍 I have the Mk3 conversion set for mine😀 1
David Wallace Posted February 26, 2021 Author Posted February 26, 2021 Thank you Gentlemen. Ivan, I have the Scorpion Miniatures Mk3 set but yet to fit it. I also have Accurate Armour's Ambulance upgrade kit for the 432, that will be my next one. I have done 2 other 432 conversions 1 with a the Fox Turret & Rarden 30mm Cannon and the other with 81mm Mortar. Both conversions were by Accurate Armour. 9
David Wallace Posted February 26, 2021 Author Posted February 26, 2021 Cheers Ralph, Yes "up the Irons"
Buzby061 Posted February 26, 2021 Posted February 26, 2021 Great work on all of them. They certainly benefit from the interior being visible. I never bother with tanks interiors but would certainly consider doing the insides of a 432. Where did you get the figures from? Pete 1
Terry1954 Posted February 26, 2021 Posted February 26, 2021 Lovely work on those FV432's. They all really look the part. Terry 1
David Wallace Posted February 26, 2021 Author Posted February 26, 2021 Cheers Buzby and Terry, I built the complete interior of the Mk1 and Mortar carrier, but on the Turret version I only did the drivers section as you cannot see anything else with the turret on. The figures are from Valkyrie Miniatures, Resin figures (purchased on line) and Firing Line, White Metal from David Parkins. I had to super glue a set of Plastic Panzer figure legs to the commander of the Mortar carrier to show him out of the Cupola and arms and part legs to the driver. The drivers hatch is quite large and you can see in even with the driver in. As most model driver figures don't come with legs and usually half arms this to clear to see I decided to go this route. 4
Courageous Posted February 26, 2021 Posted February 26, 2021 Very nice collection there David. Stuart 1
Bish Posted February 26, 2021 Posted February 26, 2021 I do like the Mk.1, great job on the build. I have built the kit as it came and really liked it. I did train to drive 432's and was pleased to see a decent kit of it released. 1

Cheers Bish, my Dad commanded three variants in his time I believe, Standard Mk1, Mortar Carrier and also with 30mm Rarden. I was never in the army but got the chance to drive one last year as a Christmas present.
Bish Posted February 27, 2021 Posted February 27, 2021 By the time my Batt went armoured, mid 90's, they were relegated to support roles, though we did have them in the MILAN Platoon. I am just glad i trained to drive a warrior and spent more time on those than 432's. 1

Believe it or not my dad guarded Hess in Spandau in 1965 and some of the Great Train Robbers in Durham Prison in 1963. He was also involved in the Radfan thing in Aden also sometime in the 1960’s
Murdo Posted February 27, 2021 Posted February 27, 2021 Cracking job! On all of them. Spent a few years on 432s, this brings back many memories... Like trying to steer / stop one in deep snow. 1

He said the antenna were incorrect and in the wrong locations and the fire extinguishers weren't the correct type 😂😂
IanC Posted February 28, 2021 Posted February 28, 2021 Very nice. I like your figures too. The DPM looks good. And the hackles! Ian 1

The hackles on the figures in the mortar carrier are cast white metal so can take no credit for those but the one on the Valkyrie figures with the 30mm Rarden are made from some plastic putty and wire. 1
