Great work on the decals mate, they can be troublesome those I.D. stripes.

Simon.

Thanks Simon,

They've settled in very nicely and the touch-ups are done for the moment.

I don't think I'll get much done today as I'm waiting on three separate parcel deliveries and don't want to get caught in the middle of something crucial.

I've made enough errors in this thread for this year. :D

Cheers,

Alistair

we had a certain older gentleman called Bader pass through Benson in his civilian aircraft back in the 80s. He was a horrible man, most rude to us.

I've heard in the past that he was a tad Marmite.

Well, two deliveries have arrived and it looks like Amazon are going to fail again so I decided to get on with the transfers that were scaring me the most.

Namely, the Red/Yellow checkerboard on the nose.

This is the result after micro-set and one hit with softener.

A couple of bubble on the chin otherwise settling in rather nicely.

I'll hit that with some more softener before I head out to work.

Thanks for looking,

Alistair

That guy reduced one of our young lads almost to tears. His hero turned out to have feet of clay, and a tongue of nettles.

That sounds about right from the stuff I'd heard.

Kenneth More has a lot to answer for. ;)

I was running out of RLM 02 so put in an order for some more and got hold of some more colours that I will need in the future.

My grateful thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Duff for their sterling service yet again.

Cheers,

Alistair

Not as productive a day as I'd hoped today.

I've painted the undercarriage doors, legs, wheels and various small delicate bits for theSwallow.

The main was given a clear coat last night and a light wash and staining today.

As for the pony,

Small bits done.

I'm hoping to get the rudder on the fuselage tonight and finish the main transfers.

Stencils can wait until my day off on Tuesday.

Thanks for looking,

Nice work Alastair,

Your 262 looks great. I like the scheme you've picked, very unusual.

Cheers Greg 👍

Thanks so much.

They have both come on very well Alistair,  great to see decals on and the fiddly bits being painted up too.  Great work fella.

Chris

Thanks Chris,

It's getting there.

Main decals done.

All have been hit with softener and that will be left to do it's stuff.

One minor irritation. The port underside tail decal folded up as I was getting it positioned and would not unfold.

Nothing that can't be fixed with paint and masking tape but annoying none the less.

Thanks for looking,

Looking good Alistair,  shame about the folding decal, have had similar too fella, very frustrating.

Chris

Thanks Chris,

It's an easy fix.

That'll teach me to cheat and use decals in the first place.

Alistair

Impressive applications of the decals,

of late it's been my least favourite part of modelling. I can never get the stuff like the chequers round the nose to cooperate at all so kudos to you for making that happen.

The pony is looking really good 👍

Thanks very much.

The chequerboard just sort of fell into place and just needed a slight nudge.

I got lucky again.

As I was up at 04:15 today for an early I got one with one or two things in the vain attempt to keep myself awake.

Some semi-gloss black sprayed on the elevator underside and after a fresh no.11 blade was fitted the decals at the undercarriage door edges were carefully sliced and the hit with some more softener to mould in.

Got the prop done as well.

The 262 is on her feet and once a little staining wash on the undercarriage legs had dried I gave her a satin coat.

No pictures but I put the tiny decals on the wheels as well. They'll be fitted tomorrow, the broken pitot will be sorted and she'll be done.
