Great to see the paints going on Alistair,  what a shame about the Pony paint reaction,  if it continues despite your best effort to sort  a coat of Klear may help to act as a barrier coat.

Good work

Chris

Thanks Chris,

Not certain what's causing it as it hasn't happened over the other areas of Chromate Green but a Klear cote sounds like a plan.

Cheers,

Alistair

I've had a busy morning.

Masking and stripping done

ENaCA9z.jpg

The edges f the masking have been sealed and I've given the mustang a coat of Klear over the stripped part to see if that will help.

Thanks to @bigbadbadge for that idea.

RLM 82 and more black will be flung at these later.

Thanks for looking,

Cheers,

Alistair

Colourcoats RLM 82 applied highly thinned in light misty coats, trying to get a faded look.

cLszGbw.jpg

I tried a new tack with the black and went with Tamiya LP1 thinned with rapid thinners.

And... Drum Roll please.......

GK27POT.jpg

By George I think he's got it.

That's a relief.

Chris you're a genius.

Some time later......

There are a few minor touch-ups required but I'm chuffed with that.

Touch-ups later and then on to the mottling and after that the black band around the fuselage.

Thanks for looking,

Cheers,

Alistair

Glad it worked out well Alistair   I got a bit worried as I scrolled down incase it hadn't work, phew!!!

I have used it as a barrier coat before myself and it can put up with a lot and is great stuff.

They look great so far, cracking work

It recently happened to me on the Sea Gladiator and a quick rub down and klear sorted it.  Good thing about Klear is it can go on quickly after the (matt) paint has been on s short time too.

Looking forward to seeing these progress.

The mottling looks good and the metal finish on the Mustang too, great work,  hope your shifts go smoothly fella.

Chris

Thanks Chris,

I went to start the mottling today and my RLM 02 had almost run out so it was thinned a little more that I would normally.

I do feel an order in the direction of ColourCoats coming this weekend.

Cheers,

Alistair

I spent this morning masking up with highly detacked tape.

aYypKik.jpg

mdioSwe.jpg

Then a spray session using Alclad High Speed Silver.

xqMcyoA.jpg

AiajfB2.jpg

The port flap will need a little sand and respray. So that will get done once the paint is cooked.

Then a clear coat on the 262.

uqn0VDa.jpg

fGgMbFG.jpg

I may get some stickers on that later.

Thanks for looking,

Cheers,

Alistair

Transfers started on the Me-262

They've been hit with softener and I'll let that dry overnight and then put the red dots and such on along with the stencils.

In the meantime... During the meanwhile.. No Lobsters here..

Respraying done and masking off.

More masking tomorrow for the Olive drab and then it's sticker time on this one.

Put the final main decals on. Red Dots and the 1 on either side followed by the stencils.

The Mustang was masked and the Olive Drab Anti-Glare panel sprayed.

This has now got further than the last attempt.

I may make a start on the transfers later on.

I also made a start on the red bits.

Once that's dry I'll mask up for some yellow on the spinner and aluminium on the sticky out bit on the rudder.

Thanks for looking,

Alistair

Thanks Mark,

It's going too well and I'm a tad concerned that I've not had a major stuff up yet. :D

If I recall correctly Eric Brown and Neil Armstrong were not in the fan club either but I could be wrong on that.

Still he has some record to his name.

And its with searching against a certain surname while adding vexatious litigant to it.  More court cases than air to air kills there. :D

we had a certain older gentleman called Bader pass through Benson in his civilian aircraft back in the 80s. He was a horrible man, most rude to us.

I've still got a small bit to sort on the Mustang underside but other than that I'm happy with the results.

Some masking and Colourcoats RLM 81.

On inspection of the Mustang I found some more problem areas.

So, it was sanded back and resprayed.

The Topside

lCcgcpB.jpg

The Underside

nymdKov.jpg

uceClCR.jpg

I had sanded this completely sooth and gone through the grades to polish it up.

Something is reacting with the paint or the thinners.

Tomorrows job will be to strip this back clean it up and try a respray.

Thanks for looking,

Alistair

Have you been getting in some gaming  while you’re waiting for the decals to soften?

That’s a very nice looking pony Alistair, and the 262 is none too shabby either.

Craig.

Thanks Craig,

I may have got in a bit of time on Elite.

Right out in the black at the moment in the Formidine Rift exploring abandoned settlements and heading for Livingstone Point.. Sad isn't it.

Someone somewhere doesn't want this to be finished. ;)

I'm far too old to have anyone tell me what to do now.

What an excellent thread. I just read through the lot. Lots of drama here! I enjoyed your writing, thanks.

Thank so much.

I'm glad you managed to struggle through and have enjoyed my ravings.
