A bit of trouble fitting the engines as there was something trying it's hardest to angle the engines towards the nose.

I found that there was a bit of the wing moulding doing this sanded it back and then clamped the engines on for a good 24hrs.

One was nicely flush with the wing the other needs some work. Filler applied.

I also applied a little filler to bend in the front of the canopy.

The Mustang had filler sanded back and some applied at the side of the canopy.

Just a small update. Work getting in the way of more important stuff yet again. :D.

Thanks for looking,

Thanks Mark,

Work: the curse of the modeller.

It's just a few extra days to cover some annual leave but it's dragging by at the moment.

Mind you, I'm awaiting the arrival of some scribing templates that I'll need for the 262 so I would just get to a point where I'm having to pause anyway. :D

Cheers,

Alistair

Good work with the 262 engines Alistair, I’ve read they’re a problem area with the kit but they don’t  seem to have presented any problems for you. Looking forward to further progress once the work thing is out of the way.

Craig.

Thanks Craig,

I'll keep doing little bits and pieces until I get this night shift spell out of the way.

Beginning to regret agreeing to do it at the moment.

Cheers,

Alistair

I painted the canopies with Zinc Chromate Green and RLM 66 and used this to check the seams.

I'll need to fix those engines. Not sure how I managed to misalign the exhausts but hey ho nothing that can't be sorted.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that a common failure mode of these engines was for the moveable cone in the exhaust to get stuck. If I’m right, then you could just leave well alone and claim you’re modelling an aircraft with a bust engine. Either way, it’s all looking good.

Thanks Craig,

That's a cunning plan but I've already sorted it. I'll keep it in mind though.

The 2 1/2 minutes of useable Scottish daylight was used today for some primer.

I've still got a small bit to sort on the Mustang underside but other than that I'm happy with the results.

Loving them both. The Me 262 doesn’t feel like a new kit walk in the park, does it? I’ve seen a bunch of builds which all report on fit issues.

Regards,

Adrian

Thanks Adrian,

The 262 has certainly given me a lot more to think about than I assumed it would given that it's a moderately new kit.

Getting there though, I think.

Colourcoats RLM 76 sprayed on to the 262.

Then some Mr. Color Gloss Black with Levelling Thinner on the Mustang.

Hmmmm. There appears to have been some form of reaction, possibly from the wheel well overspray.

OBPJhOz.jpg

I'll let that dry a tad and sand back, respray and see what happens.

Thanks for looking,

Some masking and Colourcoats RLM 81.

On inspection of the Mustang I found some more problem areas.

So, it was sanded back and resprayed.

The Topside

The Underside

I had sanded this completely sooth and gone through the grades to polish it up.

Something is reacting with the paint or the thinners.

Tomorrows job will be to strip this back clean it up and try a respray.

Thanks for looking,

Alistair

Sorry to see your gloss black woes…

Thanks Adrian,

There was a fair bit of overspray from the Zinc Chromate Green and all I can think is that it's reacting with the Levelling Thinners in some way.

It'll get stripped back tomorrow and I'll make sure all traces of the Green are gone.

Cheers,

Alistair
