Absolutely, If I'd been further on it could have been so much worse.

I've got a couple more Aldi Airfix Mustangs in the cupboard so we're sorted for the future.

Full marks for your glass-half-full approach Ali. These things are character building indeed. Glad you've more in the stash.

Best.

Thanks Q,

Oh if I'd already stuck the transfers on I think I would have still been a greeting mess in the corner. :D.

Cheers,

Alistair

What a shame. I was following along as I’m looking at mustangs at the moment and this little wonder looked splendid. Accidents happen.  A venom you say. Nice. I’ll pop over and have a looksie.

Johnny

P.S. Wonderful cockpit on this one though. You can mirror it when you get around to another in the future.

Thanks very much. Very kind of you.

I will attempt to bottle lightning twice  with the cockpit, when I get to Round Two on this one.

  • 6 months later...

And finally I have resurrected this thread.

There will be another build included in this.

I've never built an Me-262 so this should be fun.

Sprue shots for the Messerschmitt

And the decals, The Mustang ones have the Invasion stripes so I'm going to cheat and use them on Amorous Len.

But the 262 will be done in this scheme

I'll try and restart this tonight, but I'm off to see the new Bond Film, will have more tomorrow.

Thanks for looking,

Cheers,

Alistair

Chris

Thanks Chris,

It's about time I got on with this.

Good for you Alistair, nice to see this thread going again, with added interest of the 262.

Enjoy the movie mate.

Thanks Simon,

Looking forward to it. The very act of being able to go is fun.

”No Mr. Gauld, I expect you to produce another couple of cracking examples of the modeller’s art. Turn on the laser to encourage him. “

Will be following with much interest.

Craig.

Thanks Auricraig,

I'll try my best to complete things without destroying the factory.

Excellent! Excellent! Excellent! Oh, and did I say, "Excellent!"?

Enjoy Mr Bond - I would like a review but without any spoilers, please ;)

Cheers,

Mark

Thanks Mark,

Quick summation.

A good Bond movie with lots of lovely musical cues and items in shot harking back to previous Bond films.

Typically very little characterisation for Rami Malek as the main villain, but that's not a surprise as only Cristoph Waltz has really ever carried it off perfectly.

A bit talky in places but a suitably proper send off for Daniel Craig .

I enjoyed it.

Hope that helps,

Alistair

Thanks, Alistair :) sounds good! Jane was saying about going to see it, so that's something to look forward to! Definitely agree that Cristoph Waltz has played the best villain in very long time, though, and it sounds like he's held onto his crown! Whoever plays Bond next has a tough act to follow.....

Good to see this being resurrected. For some reason I love seeing captured axis aircraft wearing roundels.

Watching with interest.

Q

Thanks Q,

They do look a lot nicer with a roundel on board.

Busy busy already Alistair.

Simon.

I wanted to get started as I'm back on the night shift tomorrow and then off on a bit of a jaunt for a week on Tuesday.

Now it's started I'll maybe actually do something about it rather than just thinking about it. :innocent:

  • 3 weeks later...

The digit was removed and some progress made.

Firstly the Mustang

Dissolved putty applied to the wings.

jkYAF1L.jpg

Some fairly shoddy detail painting on the fuselage halves and cockpit.

And then the 262.

Everything will get a wash and light dry brush and then some glue to bodge it all together.

Thanks for looking,

Hi Chris,

I got back last Tuesday straight into early shift on the Thursday.

Finished that yesterday and got my Day 2 PCR back today and it was negative.

So, I'm raring to get moving with these.

Ah yes early worm, used to like earlies until I had to get up at about 0415 hrs to get to work an hour earlier when the shifts changes, then I would be snoozing after dinner instead  of modelling !!!

Chris

Yes Chris the getting up at 04:15 is OK but the falling asleep eating dinner is the tricky bit.

Cheers,

Alistair
