The Yugoslav example shown in the color photo is actually one of the very few surviving Mk IV's, and at one time it was fitted with wheels from a Yugoslav F-86D!

Mike

The Hurricane at the science museum (thing thank museum) at Birmingham is also a Mk IV, but paint like a Mk I of the BoB.

Is there a decal set for blue G-AMAU scheme?

I would guess it is unlikely Arma will include a civvi scheme (no matter how attractive). Maybe we can hope the aftermarket manufacturers will produce a set?

I can only find 1/72 decal sets 😕

Lifelike Decals from Japan did sets in both 72nd and 48th.

this is the 48th

still in stock

Hasegawa did a limited editions 'Kings Air Race' boxing of their IIc in 2012, the last special boxing 1/48 Hurricane was available, which was blinkin' expensive new, £35, until Hannants had a load at half price in 2013, when I bought some then.

For me...  a night intruder!  In the Med sea grey and dark green upper and black lower surface and red codes!

Definitely! My favourite scheme is PZ865 in its 2007 display season 'Night Reapers scheme. I have everything I need to do my 1/32 model of PZ865 in this scheme except photos of the BBMF seatbelts fitted.

The 48 hasegawa with the G AMAU decals is currently on that there auction site.

Personally, I'd go for the Lifelike sheet and wait for Arma Hobby's Mk.IIc.
And that's from someone who spent ages hunting for a Hase IIb trop.

Erm, are you aware that these markings are likely fantasy, being based solely on a profile from the Aircraft in Profile Hurricane.IIC.  been discussed here a few times,  I can dig out the discussions if you like,. The short is its historically wrong, but PZ865 flew in this scheme... So you can do this accurately for the warbird...... Re the seatbelts, members of the BBMF post on Key Forum,  or just ask them directly?

If the box-art is correct, and the scheme presented is indeed accurate, then I will be very pleased to do one as the kit option.

Arma Hobby IIC box art

I will definitely build this in a WIP so I can extract the necessary knowledge out of the BM Brain's Trust.

Thanks, I appreciate that the scheme PZ865 wore is not 100% accurate, but the model is of PZ865 so as long as its accurate for her during the 2007 display season I'll be happy. I have put a couple of queries on here regarding BBMF seatbelts without a reply. Which key forum should I be looking at?

I have always liked the photo of 11sqn 'Hellzapoppin' Hurri. Does anyone do decals for that one?

I believe not but I’d love it too. Though I’ve never seen the full aircraft so don’t know the codes and serial number, and colours for the nose art would be guess work

I am awaiting the ARMA Hobby MkIic. As someone who has returned to the hobby after many years I have decided to specialise in 1/48th Nightfighters. I am close to completing the Airfix Spitfire Vb of 111 squadron which was part of a club edition release. I have also just started the Airfix 1/48th Boulton Paul Defiant Mk1 which I will be doing in the night fighter scheme.

To add to my “stash” I have just ordered the Sword 1/48 Reggiane Re.2001 CN night fighter.

As I have returned to the hobby and have not yet honed my skills to use an airbrush and photo etched parts the ARMA Hurricane my be beyond my skills - thoughts?

Regards,

Graham

Maybe a bit of thread drift.

Arma will most likely do a 'weekend' edition of their Hurricane,  the 72nd one don't really need any etch, it's impressive base kit,  the seatbelts help, and the exhaust glare shields are a good use of etch.

This is as far as i got with the 72nd Mk.I, and I used nearly all the etch,  and this was my first serious 'go' at it.

https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235080866-hurricane-mki-arma-hobby-72nd-scheme-tbc/

Much of it is pretty much invisible when done!    I have the 72nd  Arma IIc kit, and just from examining the kit and instructions, I can see how they have simplified aspects of the Mk.I construction.

I found the kit quite fiddly, and did vary the construction sequence, and spend a lot of time test fitting.   Note. no airbrush.

There are some excellent modellers on here who brush paint,  have a look at the work or @tonyot and @PlaStix

A lot will depend on your personal skill set, having spent far too much time on forums, rather than actually modelling,  one observation,  there are modellers who are  less skilled than than others, but have a tendency to disparage kits or AM products as the problem, rather than their own lack of skills, and let everyone know about the problem with no regard for them being a 10 thumbed impatient baboon.....

Sure, modern kits are often have very tight tolerances and can be fiddly, and have instructions that don't stress how crucial it can be to get some early step exactly correctly aligned is, and how you need to clean up parts precisely,  many older kits have some play in this regard, or are just very well thought out, the famed Tamiya engineering for example.

An example, you will read that the 1/48 Eduard bf110C kit has poor fitting engine nacelles,  and see kits smeared in filler and much wailing and gnashing off teeth...

and then you get this

https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235077259-a-twin-that-did-not-get-away-eduard-148-bf-110c-finished/

Sure, the kit is tricky in assembly, and pictorial instructions do not explain this., but with some forward planning, test fitting, careful adjustments  and lateral thinking,  a near filler free build was achieved.

Very elegant work.  but not achieved by just cutting the bit off and sticking them together.

It also bring back memories of some teenage builds of mine I still have,  and see filler smeared, detail wrecked stalled projects, that with some of the forethought seen above would have been very neat and tidy.  But this place didn't exist then......

Which come back to your concern, make use of the community here,  read builds, see how other modellers fared with said kit.

Doing a Work In Progress can be very helpful as well,  as it shares pitfalls and techniques with others, and we have a site ethos of being helpful, friendly and supportive,  so no need to worry about 'just brush painted'  or 'not as good as X' ,  whatever your standard,  you will get positive feedback and helpful suggestions.

Thank you. I look at the photos on this site and in Scale Aircraft Modelling and think I only wish I could be that good. I guess I have to walk before I can run. Still I do enjoy my modelling and I am pleased I have returned to the hobby - in part due to lockdown.

The site is a great leveller,  which is why I suggested a WIP, you'd be surprised at how much perspective seeing your work in a common format gives it.   It's easy to be overawed, especially  Model mags, which  are supposed to look good, so at least some of it is good photography, a well made kit badly photographed is not inspiring.

And, don't dismiss your input, we have plenty of returnees, and posting up what you did, and how it worked, or not, can get be helpful for others, or get suggestions of different methods for problems you encountered.  https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/235073488-spitfire-pr-xix-airfix-72nd-as-i-thought-it-would-be-easy/

Note how I pretty much wrecked this at one point.  I also use a very old basic point and shoot digital camera, a fiver posted off ebay, no flash,  in macro mode, using the desk lights.   Hardly hi-tech photography, but shows what I want to show.

one little tip in the link

" .... and one thing I have learned is to test fit a canopy and see what's visible... "   that is before going mad on interior detail you'll never see!

One point I  forgot to add, there is also poor kit design,

The UC leg attachment on this is blinkin' awful....   It really need drilling and pining before assembly...

Thank you for your comments and advice. Much appreciated. I have spent a couple of hours this afternoon putting the finishing touches to the Night-fighter Spitfire Vb. Started painting the Boulton-Paul Defiant cockpit area. I will keep you updated on progress and will post some pictures once it starts going together. I am hoping the Sword Reggianne CN 2001 NIghtfigher will arrive this week and I can share the build.

My local IPMS Group is Farnborough and I will join once all the restrictions are lifted and I can go to the meetings.
