Good day,

Here is my second completed kit for the year, the Special Hobby P-40K Warhawk.  A brief overview of the kit and the processes I used............

1. Paint ( Main colors )

   A. Mission Models US Army Sand FS30277

   B. Model Master Neutral Gray

   C. Model Master US Interior Green

   D. Secondary colors : Tamiya Metallic Gray, Chrome Silver, Titanium Silver, Flat Aluminum, Mission Models Tire Black, Model Master Gulf Armor Sand,

                                        Green Drab

2. Aftermarket items : Photo Etched US Seat Belts

3. Kit decals used

4. Weathered using washes ( three different colors ), paint, pencils, and chalk pastels ( three different colors )

A good friend suggested I build this kit with a strong endorsement.  I would consider this kit on par with the Tamiya Zero and Eduard Spitfire family of kits.  I had no significant issues putting this one together.  The detail, fit, and kit decals are excellent. I enjoyed this Special Hobby P-40K and highly recommend it for all skill levels.

THANK YOU in advance!!!!!

With much respect,

Mike

Very nice Warhawk!

A piece of friendly advice from a photographer: don't publish blurry pics! Re-shoot them.

Excellent modelling!

Kind regards,

Joachim

Thanks Martin.  No need to apologize for the latter.  We`ll get to it in due time.

Nice model and a commendable P-40 collection, Mike!  😎

The Special Hobby P-40 family of kits is really something, well, special.  I've got one of these and a Sword P-40K ready for finish painting.  Interestingly, they both came with decals for 246040, and both printed the "U.S. ARMY" in black which may not be totally correct.  Both have been enjoyable builds but Special Hobby have set a new benchmark for quality.  The only real hiccup is the IP coaming vs. windscreen fit, which isn't a deal breaker IMHO.

That's an excellent rendition, Mike - I knew, you would like this model kit!

In my opinion, it's one of SH's best efforts in 72 scale so far.

The 'group picture' of various sub-types is very attractive.

Sorry I have to agree with @Spitfire31 on the quality of photos though... pictures 1,2 and 5 are a bit blurry indeed.

Best greetings from Vienna!

Thanks for the advice.  In all honesty, I need a camera better suited to close up pictures.  The one I currently have is fine for general purpose photography but nothing along the lines of a professional like Roman`s colleague Wolfgang and many others use.  For the time being, I`ll limp along with the one I have.

Best regards and thank you for the kind words!!!!!!

This is an excellent Warhawk. 👍 The cockpit is nicely detailed and the weathering you have applied looks perfect. Your P-40 collection is really impressive.

I know that plane! By coincidence I'm building an very different aircraft also flown by 57th Fighter Group, and your P-40 got involved. You've made a lovely job of it.

Excellent work!

I suspect your base involves a piece of wet'n'dry sandpaper for the tarmac; which is a technique I have used myself a few times.
