Just to refresh...

And here're the sprue...

Inreseraching this kit I took advantage of the aftermarket...hmmmm....market.  Hauler in Czechia (when did that happen, btw...?) has some good stuff in resin and PE.

And, I think, they got a little carried away with some of the PE sets. I will try to use as much of this as I can, but I think some of this is...well, this way madness lies...

Even the PE instructions frighten me!

But I started anyway...the chassis...

This'll be a slow build.

Will be watching this.

I built this as a kit review for IPMS/USA back in 2012.

Have another copy with the 20mm Breda gun to build.  Need to pick up a set of those wheels as I was very disappointed with what came in the kit.

I agree.  The wheels are essential as are some PE sand channels.  The rest of the PE is just a form of torture.

That's certainly a busy little kit John :coolio:

I can be.  I will keep my eyes open!

Damn.  Just deleted this whole post.  Anyway.  Here are the pictures.  I used most of the PE so far, at least the bigger pieces, and some fo the smaller ones too.

Used this...

Not this...the gas pedal was the size of a flea.  Not a chance.

Nice floorboards.

Tidy work John. If the squares on your cutting mat are the same size as on my one then those parts really are tiny!

Minuscule.  You should see the tow hooks.

And thanks for the reminder.  I need to do a little work on this kit...

Looking good John.

So you are going to leave it as a radio truck?

I am not sure.  I'll load it up but not like the Beverly Hillbillies look they have on the boxtop from BlackDog.

The way the kit comes it is set up as a radio truck just like the Tamiya one in 35th.  Radio was added to the bed on the driver's side with a door for access on the side.  The kit also comes with the aerial poles mounted on the side above the radio.  Only one truck per patrol was set up as a radio truck if I remember correctly (lots of good books out there).  You can put a thin piece of plastic over the door space.  You can also remove the radio box from inside the bed but if you are putting in extra storage you can pretty much just cover that up.

This one shows it without the radio.

This one shows the radio door open and the aerials in the rack above,

Looking good with some primer.  Those resin wheels from Hauler are superb.  I actually got them from a guy in California...so they went from CZ to CA and back to the EU and GR...

Yes Philip...radio truck it is...

Tomorrow I'll start sorting paints.  I have the Chevy, the Sea Fury and the T-6G Harvard to start colouring up!  And let's not forget the drilling of the holes for the LVG...Might as well drill the Snipe too...egads...🤪

I gave the Chevy a little Light Portland Stone to start.  I'll take a hairy brush and pick out some other colours, tones, tints, etc...

And there are a lot of tires on that stand...Chevy, Sea Fury, T-6G Harvard III...It was Tire Black airbrush time.  Best to get them all done at once.  Btw...I won't be posting this image on the other threads.

I woke up around 3AM last night and couldn't get back to sleep. I'd read enough of DCI Banks for the moment so I tucked back into this and ended up finishing her one the course of an hour.  I had already painted the wheels, so I attached them.  Once that was done it was a matter of loading up the beast.  At this point I am calling it done.  I am not using any of the decals.  I think it looks very nice indeed.  Tye PE and resin upgrades really make it pop out.  I also tried to vary the tones and colours of the bags and bottles, etc...give it some depth.  How accurate that is, I am not sure, but duffel bags come in all colours, really, as long as they are drab-ish.

I will have better images in the gallery tonight but for now here's my LRDG Chevy radio truck...
